High Chair - buying help

We intially bought a mothercare one that folds up for our first. When she was too old for it, the plastic had split in places and the straps were manky because they weren't removable we got her a Stokke Tripp Trapp. Expensive but she is now 8 and still using it in the chair position. No more sitting on knees to reach the table or being too short and getting food down her front.
We got another tripp trapp for the boy when he was 6 months with the baby restraints and insert and still using it now as a toddler chair and he is nearly 4.
Really wish we'd just bought a tripp trapp when daughter was a baby but they were quite expensive and I thought they were just another posh novelty. They're actually great, versatile and look good too."I've fallen down a hole" - said in best Monty Python voice-over.0 -
We have the ikea one but we have to put a clamp on the straps at the back as they kept coming loose. Found our daughter stood on the tray once nearly had a heart attack.0

I love our tripp trappMy brother and I had one each, and they lasted us from late babyhood/early toddlerhood and through childhood - in fact we were still using them as teenagers. I love the fact my LO can sit with us and eat at the table rather than on a separate tray. When we visit my parents she uses the tripp trapp that I used myself as a child - it's still going strong after 35 years

I would go for the most basic wood/plastic one with no padding. We were given an all singing all dancing PVC covered padding one and cleaning was a nightmare! All my friends have the Ikea one and it looks really easy to keep clean.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0

My little one is only 8 weeks old but I have a tripp trap with the newborn seat attachment. Granted, it was very expensive for the chair alone, but it will be used for many many years and I really wanted somewhere to put him while I am in the kitchen! It was another £80 for the newborn seat, but they resell on ebay for a good price so I am trying to take good care of it, plus will hopefully used it for another baby in a year or two.
My sister had one for her two and was excellent for the same reason as the Ikea one, it it easy to keep clean.
I was very MSE for all the baby bits, and this was the only thing we blew the budget on. However I was lucky and bought it with my bonus.0 -
IKEA antilop for us. Used a blanket rather than the inflatable insert and got ours 2nd hand! We take the tray off and have it up at the table as well for family meals. Easy to clean. Can't fault it.0

Ikea Antilop is fab. My DD was very small for her age (still is) so we just popped a cushion or folded towel behind her till she grew bigger. It is easy to clean, and the tray comes off for when you want them to use the table (say for drawing or draft and when they get older). It's great! DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

I had the chicco Polly highchair with my son which I thought was fab x it completely strippe down so could be well cleaned and the straps got chucked in the washer. It could lie back flat so when DS fell asleep in his dinner I didn't have to try and move him, just lay him back and it also had adjustable height settings so when he could climb out of it at 11 months old I just put it on the lowest setting so he didn't fall :-) plus the whole tray came off for easy cleaning x0
