How do I cancel Sky within the 14 days?

I was talked into going from my o2 broadband by Sky to their phone and broadband deal for £14.50. I eventually agreed to go with their offer though I don't want the free TV as we have no need for it.

They phoned me on the 8th of last week so I still have time to cancel. I have since releazed I can get a better deal without Sky.

They gave me a phone number to ring which is 0844 which I know will cost me. This also puts me off signing up with them because whenever I have a problem I will have to keep using this number.

What are my rights to cancel as well as the best way of doing this without inuring a phone bill ? They already have my bank details.

Try the 0800 number for o2 and go to thinking of leaving (should get you to the Sky o2 "Olympus" team set up for dealing with o2 customers.)

If you cannot succeed there, and are determined not to pay for the phone call to cancel, sky talk customers get through to sky without paying, so maybe you know someone who will let you use their phone.

(Make sure cancelling the sky deal allows you to remain on O2)

The 0844 number is free if you have a Sky phone line.

I realise that, but you said that this put you off signing for broadband ,and phone, in which case a customer service call would be free.

I used the old O2 number, when making enquiries about migrating, but when I rang about a related matter after agreeing, but before getting my phone line , one young man told me that I shouldn't really be using that number, but that he would put me through to the correct department, anyway.

I don't know whether they would agree to a free transfer if you are cancelling, though.

What do you mean a free transfer ? o2 are not going to be around for broadband. If I had not agreed to go with Sky what would have happened if I had just stayed with o2 ?

If you cancel your proposed move (be quick, they can transfer bb within 8 days), you can ask sky to delay your migration to them till the very end of o2 (latest estimate of this is June/July next year).

Then you would be migrated in to Sky (broadband only), with no minimum contract and can suck it and see or go elsewhere.

I got this email from them:

BT has told us they're about to cancel your landline. If this happens, we'll have to cancel your Home Broadband too.

If you didn't know that your line was being cancelled, you'll need to get in touch with BT to find out why. Or if you do know why it's happening, we need to talk to you soon.

    What to do now
    Call our team on 0800 230 0202.

We need you to return your router to us within 30 days to avoid a charge being applied. We will send you a pre-paid envelope to return it in.

If we don't hear from you in the next few days, we may suspend your account. If you've called in the last few days or you're moving to Sky, please ignore this email.

    Regards,

    The Sky Home Communications Team

Why have they sent this ? I have checked my BT account and there is no mention of this.

You can't 'stay with O2', they have sold the business and contracts. If you do nothing you will be migrated to Sky in due course. If you decline the migration, your contract and service will end.

You need to ask them why they sent it.

As the phone number is the 02 number, not sky, maybe this is down to you switching to sky??

(Note the last paragraph about ignoring if that is the case)
