Hi folks, I'm not looking for any 'why don't you use Firefox / Chrome et al' debate thank you.

It's simply that Microsoft has offered me an update this morning to IE11 and I'm holding off installing it until I get some opinions on it's functionality compared to IE10 which I'm currently running under Windows 7 Ultimate.

I like IE10 very much and have got used to it. Any users of IE11 think it's better and worth the upgrade please?

Upgrade it's better than 10 (and chrome).

You should always really upgrade unless the new version is riddled with bugs.

If you start using the new one and find you don't like it you can always change again to something else.
    Can't you ?

OK, thanks for the replies. Been doing some googling and there don't seem to be any stories of catastrophic happenings so I'll take the plunge and see for myself. :D

Hmmm. I'm beginning to think this update has snuffed it. It downloaded and installed and I restarted the computer. Got the usual please wait while updates complete on shut down and reboot ... and now it's just been sitting there for over half an hour with a black screen and a small window that says 'Setting up personalised settings for Web Platform Customizations'.

There is occasional hard disc activity, but should it really be taking so long?

Well mine is still stuck. Question is, if I force a shutdown and go back to the restore point it created at the start, will I be back to IE10?

I have seen on the later (9 onwards) IEs that often in this situation, forcing a restart often gives IE a kick to complete the update

Not necessarily IE 11's fault, but just a note about compatibility, but I tried to access a site (my company's expenses site!) yesterday and it refused to work with IE 11; I got a browser version warning.

I've also found that Microsoft generally seem to be removing functionality and/or making things more difficult to achieve with their software at the moment (eg. my separate thread on Outlook 2013 on Windows 8.1).

^^^ this is a general problem and always has been... I can't use Opera for my energy company's website, but do agree it seems to be getting worse :(
