OS Daily Tuesday 21th November 2013

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

  • Good morning everyone :)

Another hi and fly visit as I am running late again :o

I officially start new job on 1st January but am spending a couple of hours there several days a week until then, so I can hit the ground running .... well that's the theory anyway!

Better get a move on, so will leave with usual well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)

    Morning all,

Quite mild here this morning, still no heating for us apart from the once when the hot water was being fixed to test something. Would rather the money be in my pocket than the energy companies !

Off to work today I need to drop dd at work and little dog at my mums first, then on to work for the day, I have a terrible sore throat and headache will take some tablets and hope it eases off a bit.

Not sure about dinner will check my list.

    Have good days all xx
  • Morning All :)

Well yesterday was eventful, baby decided to hardly move all day (just pressure rather then movements) it happened for 2 days last week too. So once it hit 24hrs of hardly anything and trying all the tricks I ended up in Triage for monitoring.

Well the CTG always wakes baby up, but never have I felt such a fraud in my life, in half an hour I'd never seen this baby that active before... Haha! Anyway, baby is getting a scan today/tomorrow to see if it's ok. Because apart from last Wednesday after monitoring, it's been a sluggish baby. For a week. So hopefully it'll be all ok, I'm to go back in if baby does it again though.

Anyway, OS style... I did my SOA yesterday and had it looked at. Seems I need to review life insurance policies, and try and cut our electric useage. But monitors are not cheap and I looked for advise, but we do most. But it's odd that we use 4,500-5000 units a year (average family is 3,300kwh) yet we use 40% of the gas of an average family, and don't use electric heating :/

    Any ideas?

So today I'm making bread, and ironing... And keeping my feet up Inbetween I think! DD is tired from being out until 2hrs past bedtime, although she was as good as gold in hospital playing with a birthing ball :D

Hope everyone has a great day x

JO a meal with your friend sounds like a lovely thing to do x

    Morning everyone

JulieGeorgiana - hope everything goes ok, the midwife and docs told me with both mine that it's normal for baby to go very quiet and not move much just before you go into labour, also considering you've been "nesting" think little one could put in an appearance sooner rather than later! Also I was taken in to hospital with blood pressure problems with DS2 and had to have a "dop-lar"(sp?) scan - it has sound as well as pics and it measures the blood/oxygen flows through the placenta etc, that was fine, and when I asked if they could tell if baby was going to be arriving soon (as I'd still got 2 weeks to due date) was told that it didn't look like baby would be coming into the world any time soon - that was 4.30pm on the Tuesday afternoon, at 5am next morning I had to get midwife to check me over and when she examined me I was 6 cms dilated, went from observation ward in full labour at 6.55am to delivery suite and baby was born at 8.55am - so not actually sure if they can be that accurate!

Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x

Cloudy, cold and raining here this morning.

DH up and gone to work stupid early.

Dinner last night was roast chicken pieces, mash, veg and gravy. Tonight we will be having fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg - bit boring and the menfolk will moan but I'm trying to get so much done this week.

Went to next town yesterday to get some xmas shopping done, it was reasonably successful, although it's not an indoor shopping complex and the weather was wet and cold all day. I did get a lot of the prezzies, but wanted to get my parents a gift voucher for the theatre and went to purchase it but the computers were down so couldn't get that, and we always buy DH's grandad fruit marinated in alcohol - he absolutely loves it but couldn't get that anywhere either. Did on the upside visit 1 of the big 3 SM's that's just been newly re-built and opened and managed to get my vouchers exchanged and prezzies bought with them, has saved me a good bit. I also did some work on DH's report for the weekend and sent some emails etc.

Today my plans are to visit local SM to organise and purchase the wine and gifts for the weekend. Visit caravan dealer to ask for a raffle prize. Will then return home and stay there to crack on with jobs that need doing, ie, washing, drying and ironing, housework, packing, etc, do on-line shop. Hoping that if I can get enough done today that tomorrow I'll be able to get the xmas cake and xmas puds made and cooked tomorrow.

    Keep safe and well x

  • Morning all,

    Another wet one today :(

Off for an NHS healthcheck in the local Dobbies car park this morning, booked DH in for one as well. Should be fun!

Work later then I'm popping in to see a friend I haven't managed to see for quite a few months. She lives locally but with working and her having her first granchild, we haven't been able to see each other as much as we would like.

Have a good day all :)
  • Nmlc I always said baby would be here early next week (a few days late)...

With DD her movements went low too, but not as much or as often. We all know they need to conserve energy for the big day... but you never know so I'm not taking the risk... The scan they said they'd check growth and placenta and blood flow. So that's reassuring :)

I'm not overly worried, I mean baby is wiggling ever since the CTG so I'm happy :)

    Good morning everyone :j

It's a lovely crisp and dry morning so I don't mind going out in it later on. Our gas meter has stopped reading the card so I have to go and get a replacement card from town. I stayed on hold on the phone for 15 mins to British Gas yesterday before I could speak to someone. I had a very quick shower this morning with my fingers crossed as we only had a £1 on the meter last night .

My eldest DD has organised a photo shoot of my girls, grandchildren and herself for a christmas present for me and hubby. Cue lots of primping and preening going on in my house this morning :rotfl:. I'll just be grateful to get a picture of them all looking in the same direction :D.

I don't have much to do today as we had a big blitz on the house on the weekend so it's just a bit of tidying and putting the hoover round. I'm cooking pork steaks for tea so that's nice and easy. I have an argos delivery this morning sometime between 8 and 10 and then I'm off to town. Hope everyone manages to have a great day. Take care and as always, gentle hugs for all who would like one.
    Cheers m'dears x
