  • This may seem a really stupid question.....

but, do you KNOW your iPhone isn't unlocked ?

What happens when you put another (mainstream) operator SIM in ?

I had my phone unlocked by T-Mobile some while back, when I wanted to use a different network I just put the "3" SIM in and the phone "just worked". Nothing for me to do.
  • Yes lol, I've tried both activating the phone manually
and via iTunes everyday since 9th
    October!

  • On my phone, all I did was put the "3" SIM in and it worked, no activation, no reset, no backup and restore.

I have to say I was amazed.

When you put a different SIM in your phone I take it that it doesn't register to the network.

  • 1) They actually did it. I hadn't actually checked it was unlocked for a few months after ordering the unlock (for a holiday where I didn't change my SIM in the end).

    2) There was no need to backup and restore to apply the unlock or for me to do anything other than put my "3" SIM in.

Used to but since the last OS it can also be done over WiFi without need to connect the phone to iTunes.
