What happened to the days of cash! I went this afternoon to the 3-phone shop in Swansea and I decided to buy the new iPhone 5s 16gb it’s £549 to buy, which I knew so I withdrew the cash from the bank I was then told they could only except £300 cash the rest would have to be paid via a card! Well I laughed, I haven’t got a card, I thought he was joking but no he wasn’t apparently it’s the company policy. So I went to the Carphone warehouse and bought it there cash was no problem.

It's a bit weird making such a large purchase in cash. For one thing you are missing out on the extra consumer protection using a credit card gives you.
It's so unusual to pay for such a large purchase in cash they probably thought it was a bit dodgy. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Buying mobile phones to resell on ebay etc is a method used by those who launder money, as they hold their value well.0 -

It's not that uncommon, lots of people who run businesses where they get paid in cash eg shops, window cleaners etc use their cash takings as their spends rather than take it to the bank. It's a bit weird making such a large purchase in cash. Not sure that works.
The idea of laundering money is that you take 'off the books' money and use it to generate 'on the books' money so you don't have to explain to interested parties how you came by said money.
If you use it buy phones, the interested parties will simply become interested in where you got the supply of phones that generated the money.
In order to launder money you need to use to 'add value' in some way that cannot reasonably be documented. (So that no one can demand you show documentary evidence of how you added the value.)There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -

There's spends and there's spending £550 on an iPhone. I would suspect the vast majority of iPhone purchases are not done in cash. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
What does that have to do with anything in the OP?
It's obviously a question to the OP about what they think of their purchase. Although off topic it's still about the OP's item so I don't think it's worth being arsey about it!This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
