Samsung Galaxy Note tablet - not working
Comments

Forgotmyname - It was charging and working fine before the upgrade and the upgrade was done with the tablet plugged in. The problem didn't start until after the upgrade :-\
Update:
Having completed the factory reset the tablet has been on charge overnight and now has a staggering 4% charge :-(0 -
Checking - tablets draw masses of current to recharge, are you using the correct original cable and charger? All USB chargers are not equal.
When on charge, if you go into the settings/battery does it day charting from mains or from USB? 4% overnight suggests it isn't getting enough current to do much more than stay alive.0 -
Using the original mains charger not a replacement, will check the other when I get home....0

My wife's Tab2 has a problem whereby if she lets the battery run down completely, it has to be left on charge for about 3 - 4 days and it then starts charging again.0

The Note 10.1 needs a little over 2A @ 5V to charge at a reasonable rate.
One other note, if you let your battery drain very low, then the lower current of most USB 2 ports won't be enough to charge it even if it's off. The charge current curve isn't linear.

Samsung is like Apple in that charge rate may be downgraded if not using Samsung charger .0 -
UPDATE: The Note was left switched off and on charge all day yesterday, when I returned from work the charge had rocketed up to 61%, which is a distinct improvement, however after about 5 minutes light use with the charger still plugged in the charge had dropped to 56%.
I then switched it off and left it on charge overnight, when I turned it on this morning the charge was still showing 56%. :undecidedWhen on charge, if you go into the settings/battery does it day charting from mains or from USB? 4% overnight suggests it isn't getting enough current to do much more than stay alive.
I checked the Settings/battery it said charging AC.
Someone who knows about these things has tested the charger and it is producing 2A @ 4.97V which they considered to be near enough 5V to be considered OK.
So I am still non the wiser

If you bought it at xmas, it should still be under warranty.
It is most likely to be a charger issue, the connections get work on mini-usb over time (one benefit of the new iPhone connector), you can get spare usb-micros cables from poundland, if your charger has a detachable cable like my Nexus 7 does.

OK - so the tablet knows it can draw the power it needs, and still not performing - I'd be inclined to check in with Samsung from here. They'll send you a jiffy bag of some kind to return it to a service centre. Be extremely clear about the problem as most service centres just flash the ROM (you will lose data on the tablet, not a problem for GMail, google docs and other cloud services) and hope that cures everything and you want to help them understand to try some diagnostics first ;-)0 -

Quick Update
Before biting the bullet and getting around to contacting Samsung I stuck the Note on charge again and left it on all day.
When I returned it was displaying 100% charged, I installed one of the free battery monitoring apps (can't remember which one atm) then let it do it's work.
The Note seems to be working and charging fine now, although I am not letting it get below about 20% charge.
Fingers crossed ;o)0
