Samsung Galaxy Note tablet - not working

Hi,

I bought Samsung galaxy note 16GB 10.1 inch from Tesco direct for last christmas.

this always used to work fine. but since last week, the battery is not charging. Even after I left it charging for almost half a day, battery doesn't get charged.

additionally I have difficulty even turning the tablet on. After much difficulty when i managed to turn it on once, it quickly shut down complaining about the battery

any help on resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Try different cable try different charger .
Fails then you probably need a new battery .
    Dirty Connection port ???

No idea on cost to replace the battery as this is the first i have seen .

It is not usually covered by warranty but you should check with the vendor .

Self fit can be done but it requires dismantling the unit .

Battery excluded usually from 12 month warranty .
It could be many things wrong but OP suggests no charge in the battery .
Will it turn on with the charging cable plugged in ??

Its the vendor under SOGA Samsung additional warranty is a limited warranty not under SOGA unless you bought from Samsung .

looks like you may be right could just have a 6 month warranty on the battery like there phones have.
worth a try i think though plead ignorance. you never know!!

just an fyi there was an update 4.1 or something that was reported giving trouble
systems crashing and so on don't know if it was causing the battery not to charge
but may be worth having a look at if you updated!!

    note back to factory settings

roadsidetree - My Note 10.1 is doing exactly the same thing, same age too bought as a gift last christmas.

I am intrigued by the potential update issue as there was a software update installed recently too.

Just need to turn it on long enough to investigate.

have a look on the android forum below
looks like they are going to skip the 4.2 update and go to 4.3
as well they are still recommending the factory reset
as far as i can tell the reset does not affect the installed update just clears
    everything out!!

some are saying a factory reset may sort it !!

Updates with a dicky battery.. NEVER EVER do that.

Only ever update with a fully charged battery and ideally plugged in also.
