What is the Quickest Time Solicitors Can Do Their Stuff?

And so if this is the case, it won't be the 18th as the solicitor we're all waiting for isn't answering his phone.
To be honest I'm not in slightest surprised. As there would be no time to get any work done by the sounds of events. Setting dates without any reference points is meaningless.
Best to stay chilled during what is a stressful enough time for everyone. Wasting peoples valuable time helps no one. Often totally the reverse can happen. .0 -

The solicitor in question hasn't had very many phone calls at all, and has certainly not been pestered. Again, herein lies the problem.
My solicitor on the other hand has been fantastic (GM Wilson in Wakefield, by the way). It goes to show that a bit of research, word of mouth recommendation and paying a bit more to deal with someone local does make a difference.
I agree that getting stressed doesn't help, but if someone hadn't made a phone call at some point to our vendor's solicitor and their vendors solicitors, we would be still here to see HS2.0 -
Lucy we are in pretty much exactly the same position - only it's our buyer holding up the chain. We were hoping to exchange this week and complete next - everyone is ready apart from our buyer who says that they have sent the contracts back to their sols but our sols have heard nothing from theirs. He apparently doesn't return our sols phone calls and hasn't responded to 4 letters. We are 4 months down the line and have already suffered one chain broken close to exchange this year we just want to exchange and then we can breathe again and make plans for the move!MANAGED TO CLEAR A 3K OVERDRAFT IN ONE FRUGAL, SUPER CHARGED MONEY EARNING MONTH!:j

The crux is that everyone is buck passing and saying that our buyer should be chasing their sols - so there's not really much we can do. I just worry like you that there is a deeper issue that is being stalled onMANAGED TO CLEAR A 3K OVERDRAFT IN ONE FRUGAL, SUPER CHARGED MONEY EARNING MONTH!:j

RoxieW, I'm sorry to hear you're in the same situation. It's quite a scary place to be, as it feels like any moment we could be back to square one.
Luckily, our buyer has been great about it, although she is very angry about the lack of information and honesty, and obviously the rubbish progress. She found out yesterday that her solicitor didn't even know her buyer had an offer! It's amazing the lack of clear communication. If we had just one person who was the main point of contact who knew what was happening it would help. But everyone has snippets of information which aren't always accurate, and noone else appears to be talking at all.
I've decided that today, I'm not speaking to anyone in any professional capacity unless they have something factual, informative and useful to say.
I'm anticipating a very quiet day indeed.
Good luck with your purchase, I'm sure it will all be fine. We have to keep that as our mantra. IT WILL PASS! :beer:0 -
i think im at the point of losing the will to live, saving for so many years and its so frustrating that there are no laws to protect the buyers!!!
Katbapu, we've always had this, ever since the first house I fell in love with fell through. My Mum had even bought me the wooden spoons. I always said they were the wooden spoons of doom!
I agree that the current process doesn't protect anyone, really, and so we're always setting ourselves up for heartache as nothing is set in stone at any point with the purchase/sale, right up until completion.
Don't give up hope, I think eventually you come to expect the worst and develop a thicker skin! (Ish!) Good luck, I hope you find something perfect for you and your partner, I'm sure you will.0 -
anyway a couple of weeks have passed, and i have now found out, albeit hearsay, that the neighbour didnt want asian neighbours and the seller agreed a private sale with his neighbours,
any advice on what i can do if anything at all?
You can check on the Land Registry site or Zoopla etc. It takes a little time for them to show up, something like 3 months I think. This will tell if the house changed hands.
Well, fortunately it is still not a race hate crime to sell a house to your preferred buyer. At the end of the day, if you're selling an item it is your choice on who you sell it to.0 -
it just doesnt seem fair though, i guess i just have to pick myself up and carry on viewing, just seems that every property we view doesnt seem as good as the first, and i compare too much!
hope everyone elses purchases go through ok! fingers crossed for you all.x0
