Backdating of a Pay Rise?

All they are doing is that you will get a review at 6 months. They are not saying you will get a pay rise. You are the only one that seems to think that.
You obviously have a large trumpet and can blow it loudly.
Just be careful.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -
Frustrated perhaps, because the shower of idiots on this forum can't answer a simple question!
I am very happy to have a job, and I make a lot of money doing it, but in my line and with the connections I have established in the last 20 years, there are so many opportunities that it is of little concern to me if they were to let me go. My primary concern is to be treated fairly as an employee. I made it clear time and time again that I am not asking about the likelihood of a payrise, I was simply wondering about the company's position contractually, given what I very politely stated in my first posts.
I will look elsewhere for guidance, what a useless bunch of people.
It is that simple.0 -

People have taken their time to offer genuine help and guidance and this is how you treat them because you don't get the answer you want.
I bet it is such a joy having you as an employee. I can imagine your next post will be 'I asked for my pay rise to be backdated and have been dismissed. What are my right'
I have reported you as your insulting approach to people that are trying to assist is simply unacceptable.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -

How useless ?
Look, I can see where you are coming from, as I have the right buzz words and qualifications and experience, which means I no longer fear the risk of underemployemnt, but for many people, this risk is very very real, so whilst expressing caution to you may not be entirely the most appropriate answer, for many people it is. If someone reads the advise who is not as lucky as you and I, then these posts might be his/her saviour.
I digress.
The way I see the facts from you point of view:
You have a Civil Contract that says, you will have a 6 month appraisal, and a pay rise will be associated with that.
You might not have taken the job, if you thought that promise was not going to be honoured.
You might consider moving on, if it's not honoured.
The company can change their T&C's anytime in the first 2 years and there is little you can do about it. You won't get redundancy if you refuse to accept the changes.
? Have I got everything ?
Start off softly softly. Get the appraisal, get a "Well Done"
Then demand (nicely at first) that the pay rise is back dated.
When it's not, consider your position, and if you leave, get a job offer, and remind them why you are leaving.
(This is why I only work freelance) :T0 -

Ok the answer to your question is NO you cannot demand it.
There happy.
If you dont want peoples thoughts do NOT ask for them.
If you manage to get an excellent appraisal with that attitude then you will be one lucky person.0 -

I wonder how long you'll last with your current employer with this attitude, your question has been answered.Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0 -
What a charmer.0

With all that money you make why not hire a lawyer to give you a definitive answer?
Honestly, we owe you nothing here so jog on if you don't like the responses, just remind yourself what you were warned when you lose your job for being "contractually right".Thinking critically since 1996....0
