DECT phone problems

My query is this:- I am aware that microfilters need to be changed periodically (why?) but am not getting a problem with Broadband, but I am with my Dect phone system. For instance, unable to answer when the phone rings, screen goes blank or Base1 shows on screen (or 2 etc. depending on which extension) This could be the age of the system but do microfilters have an effect on the telephone as well. Have 2 new filters on order but just wondered if this could be the problem. Have posted this on Microfilter thread on Internet Accesss as well just in case I get blasted for posting on the wrong thread......

The batteries don't last for ever.0

I'd agree-batteries.
When ours have needed changing, we've had blank screens or the base ringing but not the handset.0 -
Yes, I am aware of the battery changing requirement and have done this periodically. I believe it is also very important to get the correct maH (mine are 550). But the batteries were changed last year and as they are rechargeables, surely this is not the problem. Maybe the phones themselves have a life span ?"0844 COSTS YOU MORE"0

How old are your phones ???0

Some rechargeable batteries don't last very long at all. Lifespan can be affected by whether you let them go very low/flat now and then or constantly recharge ( I think the former is advised, as with laptop batteries)0

Actually my comment was valid and prompted me to contact Duracell to ask whether constant recharging (by returning to base) or letting the batteries run down slightly (by leaving off base) made any difference to battery life (I'm not referring to the situation with laptop batteries but the fact that some brands state X amount of recharges possible ) and was informed that there is no difference....so next time I'm told off for not replacing the handset...0
