Samsung F8000 as a Freesat PVR

I will hopefully be buying the telly above in the next couple of weeks and was wondering how well does the dual tuner freesat work as were thnking about cancelling sky and just using this to record off an attached hard drive?
Does any have any experiance of this is it as smooth as Sky+

Connecting a harddrive is never going to be as "smooth" as a PVR. How do you propose to schedule the recordings, for example?

It won't be as smooth as Sky+ I'm sure. You've got a very rare TV with dual tuners so I for one would be interested to hear your feedback on how it goes if you decide to do it...

I've got a WD TV/AV external hard drive connected to my LG tv and it works a treat. Not sure about the Samsung model though. As mine is only single tuner, I tend to watch smart content whilst recording. The programme scheduling is done through the normal tv guide - click on a programme and line up to record (or series record) much the same way as a PVR. Not had any problems other than it don't like recording HD, which a mate at work has the same problem with his LG tv - could be just LG or HD content in general. Prefer the external HD set up as it just sits behind the telly doing its stuff.

Not sure if this is still the case (I read about these a while ago), but the Freesat tuner on this has issues recording. The Freeview one was fine to record from though.
