Horrible experience re comp win

Hi,

Just looking for a bit of advice, back in July I won a lovely competition for a night stay at the K West Hotel inc treatments and a 3 course meal with wine at the Blue Elephant which was booked for yesterday as it was our 1st wedding anniversary, we had a lovely day at the hotel & spa and then got ready to go to the Blue Elephant, we paid a fortune for a cab to only be told when we got there that there was no record of our reservation and they had never heard of the PR company! They said we must have been tricked and it was not a win! We explained that this was not the case as we we booked into the hotel, they made us feel so little and looked down on us, it was so embarrassing as there was no way we could afford to eat there, I then got really upset and we just left & ended up back at the hotel having a room service meal.

I have drafted an e-mail to send to the PR company as I think I would be too upset to call them, I have asked for them to reimburse us for the taxis & meal we had to pay for, but do you think I should ask for some sort of compensation as it really ruined our anniversary and we were so upset.

Any thoughts would be great & thanks for taking the time to read this.

Xx

Did you not have anything in writing with you? thats awful. One day you will look back on the experience and it wont hurts soo much. Until then yes i would continue to ask for the money you had to pay out!! enjoy the rest of your anniversary weekend and maybe they will compensate you more to help with your embaresment.(if you can trust them again!)

  • How awful - hope you get it sorted - where is the Blue Elephant and has it got a Facebook page? A comment about their rudeness might not go amiss. :-)

I personally wouldn't look for additional compensation but I would definitely expect reimbursement for the cab fares and meal costs.

I hope you get it sorted quickly.

I would copy in the restaurant on the letter/email as then there are more people who know about it and they're more likely to sort you out a 'sorry treat', also like someone else said, Twitter and Facebook are a good way of making sure they're under pressure to help you.
    Lovely Wins!

  • Many thanks for all your replies, I had copies of all the e-mails from the PR company with me, but they said as they had no information about it there was nothing they could do. I will send the e-mail tonight and perhaps ask for some sort of compensation. Hopefully they will get back to me, the worst thing is I had already doubled checked with them that they had booked the table and they confirmed that it was all sorted!
  • Yes, it may be worth me copying it to the Blue Elephant we do have the details for the PR guy there

I had something similar a couple of years ago I won a valentines meal at a local 'table table' restaurant 3 courses and a bottle of wine, it had been confirmed by telephone so i had no written details all i had was a name but when we arrived they had no record of it being a win and couldn't contact the HO as it was evening and everyone had gone home, they kept questioning me and it was so embarrassing, we ordered the cheapest things on the menu as we felt bad and in the end my husband offered to pay for it as we felt like all the other guests where thinking we were trying to get something for nothing,
since then I've always made sure I've got something in print with me for any such win
Big Thanks to all who post on the comps board
