It's rare, but it has been known to happen.
Absolutely

Well said :T
Additionally, there are far worse things than paracetamol that come in white tablet form so the "potential" to do serious harm could be there. (Yes, I know... coulda, woulda, shoulda... and "Think of the children"...)
How about one of these ?? http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/advice/factfile_az/ecstasy
Of course, in reality, this is probably not even close to anything serious, but why take the risk for the sake of an amazingly simple phonecall or email?“That old law about 'an eye for an eye' leaves everybody blind. The time is always right to do the right thing.”0 -
never heard so much piffle, you break it in half, or you give Calpol goo with paracetamol in itBlackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0

How on earth did this thread turn into a row about giving paracetamol to children? As of right now, no one knows what's in that tablet. It could be pretty much anything, from paracetamol to water purification to calcium supplements to something more recreational. The point is, while you don't know what it is, you do know it shouldn't be floating around in the yoghurt! Personally, I would want to know what it was.
But if you're really interested in the toxicity of paracetamol, here's a link to some useful information:
http://www.patient.co.uk/doctor/paracetamol-poisoning
It also says:Paracetamol can cause serious or fatal adverse effects at around 150 mg/kg for many adults. There is considerable interpatient variability which depends on age, health and substances taken with the paracetamol.
The level is higher for young children.Paediatric patients (under the age of 5 years) seem to fare better after paracetamol poisoning, perhaps due to a greater capacity to conjugate with sulfate, enhanced detoxification of NAPQI or greater glutathione stores. However, it should not be assumed that treatment in children should be different than for adults, since no controlled studies have supported any alternative paediatric therapy.:coffee:Coffee +3 Dexterity +3 Willpower -1 Ability to Sleep

I would have thought a small tablet would have dissolved in the yoghurt. That's how I give my son his medication0

I work in Environmental Health - if you still have the product (and the foreign body) you should bag it and take it to your local authority environmental health dept. They will send it off to a lab for analysis and contact the supplier to see how the foreign body got into the product from their manufacturing process. If you get a refund from the place where you purchased the item though, environmental health will consider that the end of the matter and not investigate.AFD 0/310

To the OP (if you're still reading this):
Did one of your children put it in there, cause they hate that yoghurt but you keep buying it for them?
Have you had any luck with Environmental Health?
The the rabble...
What if it was 250mg of paracetamol mixed with asprin and then pressed into a tablet with crack cocaine? Would the paracetamol still be the key issue?1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?0 -
If you get a refund from the place where you purchased the item though, environmental health will consider that the end of the matter and not investigate.
Care to explain this statement ?
Do you mean if the item was sent to EH and a letter sent to the retailer advising them of the issue (Not an unusual thing to do) - then if the buyer received a refund for the item from the retailer the Environmental Health would not take it any further ??“That old law about 'an eye for an eye' leaves everybody blind.
