Admiral car insurance
I've had my renewal through the post with my usual insurer Privilege at £465 which for the car I've got wasn't too bad.
I thought I'd see what other quotes I could get as I've been with them for 5 years and Admiral have come up with £236.
Just wondered if anyone has had any experience with them?

I've had car multicar policy with them 5 years and no problems. Only contact with them has been when I change cars and their telephone service has been very quick and efficient and policy change has been £24 . They serve my documents on line and it's up there in 30 mins. You scullion! You rampallian! You fustilarian! I’ll tickle your catastrophe (Henry IV part 2)0

With the multicar discount they were way cheaper, for the first year. Then their premium was well over comparison site quotes for the 2 on a like-for-like basis, (I use all the 4 main ones regularly as it's so easy to refresh quotes). On first renewal I rang them and they reduced to just over the 2 combined so it wasn't worth the hassle to move. This year they were still well over even after the call, so I just moved elsewhere. Benefit is they realign your renewal dates if you've got more than one car. Check to see if they've got an 'administration' cost for non-renewal. I've got a suspicion they now have. Factor this in.0

I used them a few years ago with no problems including a couple of claims. They were always the cheapest but then just stopped, ever since they've been a few hundred quid more than the cheapest.0

I've used them, or their sister company Elephant, several times. I've had no problems but then I've never made a claim.0

Used them on and off for years, there usually cheaper for me when switching from another insurer, then come renewal time they get more expensive so I switch away for a year then usually end up going back to them again. This year their renewal was £200 more than my cheapest like for like quote, which came in at a little over £200 so I left because they couldn't match it.0

They charge an additional premium to cover the modifications and ensure your cover is intact, but they can then use the Standard Parts Replacement Clause to weasel out of it. I know of some people with modified cars hit with this and others have had the modifications replaced - very random. The man without a signature.0 -

Yes, if I remember correctly, they consider a tow bar a mod so they won't pay to replace it if it is damaged in an accident, but their extra premium to cover mods doesn't cover tow bars.0 -
When I hear of Admiral the first thing that comes to mind is their requirement to disclose and subsequent load the premium for those who have attended a Speed Awareness Course.0
