Need to cut costs

I need the help of you experts. I currently have the full Sky Package, except Sports. I have Sky line rental, Sky talk and Sky unlimited broadband. I also have one box as part of the multi room package. I am able to cancel as currently as had Sky for over 12 months.

Are there any alternatives which are cheaper. Can I get broadband, phone and line rental cheaper. Are there any TV package alternatives.

I have been looking for weeks and can't get my head around all the options out there.

My average monthly bill is coming in at £84.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Try Plusnet for value broadband (10Gb) and phoneline. I think I pay about £15 per month.

For the tv there's always Freeview through your ordinary aerial. Cost is just the yearly licence fee of £145. Plenty of channels and the radio too.

For mobile I'm on the new 321 PAYG tariff from Three but it only works on the 3G network. Calls are 3p per minute, texts are 2p each and internet is 1p per Megabyte. £5 top up lasts me about six weeks.

Anything more than the above is a luxury that can be done without.

  • I'm in a similar situation to you, but my monthly outgoing is about half of yours. I think my solution would actually save you money. I am debating going for it myself because the saving is so little for me.

I would recommend you look on eBay or other satellite forums for a Freesat PVR (cloud iBox is the one I am currently considering at £110). This will allow you to watch all the freesat channels, as well as allow you to watch youtube and several internet streaming sites.

Then get something like TalkTalk 76MB fibre broadband and if you pay the line rental in advance. If you split all the costs over the 12 month contract for TalkTalk, it all works out to about £37/mth.

    I hope that helps.
