We are running a small business and use Streamline for card payments, a 3 year contract which is up in six months. Is there a cheaper option where you don't have to pay them monthly?

There are options with no monthly fees but they may charge more per transaction.
How much are you putting through on both credit and debit cards each month?0 -

It may be worth investigating the new PayPal card reader if low volume.0

iZettle would probably a good one to look at. It even has smart rate, so the more you take, the less you pay.
It also takes pretty much all cards, Visa,MC,Amex,Diners Club/Discover, JCB all for the same rate. Unlike the PayPal reader that doesn't take Amex, Maestro, JCB and Discover but costs the same.0 -
If the amount is very low then it may be preferably to cease accepting card payments sometime in the future? The amount you save by not having the cost may well pay for the lost business.0

Have you thought of Sage Pay? They have/had an offer on card machines recently.Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End

For low volume transactions try either buying a paypal terminal for £99 (which requires an android device to work) or using paypal virtual terminal https://www.paypal.com/webapps/mpp/virtual-terminalWe need the earth for food, water, and shelter.
The earth needs us for nothing.
The earth does not belong to us.

They are using worldpay, which is the same company as Streamline, so the OP is probably not going to get a better deal.0 -
