Trevor - thank you for your post however I enquire as to where you have received this information as it is not 'showing' on the CAA website (22.52 - 13/06/2014) and as this is your first post - apologies - but I just question the validity. As I say - apologies however, to date, the 'assistance' offered by the CAA has been far from helpful.

Trevor - now my apologies as my link to the CAA website now indicates the change you mention > http://www.caa.co.uk/application.aspx?catid=14&pagetype=65&appid=7&mode=detail&nid=2370

I now await replies to the 23 emails I have sent to the CAA!

This is a very significant development. It is good that the CAA has revised their earlier position. We should also acknowledge the apology.

seems the CAA have listened to the e-mails and corrected their advice:

Good but when they say " ... our earlier advice was not clear", presumably they mean " ... was not correct"!
  • Advice please - I have recently written to Ryanair re delay compensation and it is currently within the 14 days that I have given them to provide compensation. Should I not receive a response, in light of the fact that the CAA have now updated their advice, should I go straight down the court route or should I go to the CAA first to get them to give their opinion my case?

    Hi camsresident,

You would be better posting in the Ryanair thread here https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4384705

This thread is mainly about the 'Huzar' appeal and the aftermath!

I would suggest a NBA letter, then court, the CAA have been standing way too closely to the airlines, although I welcome the recent change of advice along with others.

    Regards,

    NoviceAngel

EDIT - PS Just checked, you've already posted in the correct thread and Messrs Vauban has pointed you in the right direction :-)

sorry, I should have made clear that I am not from the CAA or any airline. I am actually just another punter trying to get BA in this case to pay up for a ten hour delay

    Hi Trevor,

Well you're in the right place for advice, welcome and have a look around the BA thread for more advice, I'm afraid I'm another that thought you worked for the CAA, but hey someone has to - just kidding! Welcome to the flight delay capital of MSE. I've already thanked your 1st post, you were after all the first person to give us the news on the CAA turnaround.Glad we didn't scare you off! and good luck with BA

    Regards.

Well it now appears that the reason for the CAA changing their advice is down to BBC radio 4's Money Box program.

It's the first 6 minutes of the program
Please read Vaubans superb guide. To find it Google and then download 'vaubans guide'.

So I understand: apparently Paul Lewis was engaged in a pretty "challenging" email exchange with the CAA yesterday. Funny how the prospect of imminent exposure on national radio concentrates the mind ..

See how much trouble you've caused, Tyzap? Hope you're proud of yourself, young man ;)
