It wasn't just this community, before the elite he was a long time poster on the coupon thread. He has been active on mse since joining, even if it was just "good morning" :D:D:D

I remember Mad from the coupon thread. I always had a mental image of him in his bike clips. He often commented about riding home on his bike with all his shopping.
And his famous coupon dance in his undercrackers. How could i have forgotten that.

it is 6 years to the day that my wonderful OH lost his battle to this awful, awful disease that touches so many people's lives so the news about Mad has a particular poignancy to it today.

My thoughts go out to his family and to you guys on here to whom I know he was a good friend, albeit in a virtual world. RIP Mad.

So sorry RF. The big C is a truly devastating disease.

The last part reminded me of the coupon thread days. When there was hardly any coupons around we used to ask mad to do a coupon dance (which mad said he did in his "undercrackers":eek:), first time I have seen that smillie like that since those days. I hope he did one last dance for us

    I remember that dance :(

the lyrics of this Eagles song are so appropriate and it always makes me cry, but it got me through some really sad times back then. I've been playing it all day

(I have to say I prefer the original Eagles version but I couldn't find it on youtube without copyright problems!)

I've never posted on this thread before, but I just wanted to say how saddened I am on hearing the new of Mads' untimely death. He was younger than he appears on the photo, but it is a great pic. Thanks for posting it Blue. I believe it was taken at the GFS the year that I met him.He was a lovely bloke.I had collected quite a lot of stuff at the show and my bag was bulging and heavy( have to say a lot of the stuff in my bag was put there by Mad and Blue, both of them the kindest/good hearted peeps you could ever wish to meet)Mad would not allow me to carry it to my car, and although he chuntered that I must have parked as far away as was humanly possible , he carried it all the way across the numerous car parks for me....a true gentleman.
I became acquainted with him via the MSE Coupon thread.
He would put postcards he received on his fridge and I was fortunate to be classed as one of his mates and sent him cards from my holidays. He always thanked me and told me how pleased he had been to receive them.....he got the one I sent him from Egypt about 6 weeks after I had returned from my holiday,he thought I had forgotten to send him one, but I had been there when all the trouble started, and we had been confined to our hotel , but when it eventually arrived he was so pleased I had not forgotten him......God Bless Fred...I'll miss you.....Bully....xx
