Whilst I accept that swearing is a broad overview of a number of words, it is just that and not a specific [1] 'can people use a, b and c words in the office and in what context is it acceptable'. [2] Everyone's line is in an individual place, and often changes due to a number of factors. It must be frustrating trying to figure it out when it keeps changing.

    [1] That's how I'd 'black-and-white' think.

[2] Now, that's total confusion! Because how could you ever know where the line was or wasn't? I suspect that's why I have, non-consciously, become so rigid(?), careful(?), not sure what the right word is there, and speak entirely in formal language - well, I might let go a "hell" (not really swearing at all) (wonder if the forum will exclamation that out? It's not a 100% that it won't - so, again, totally unclear in advance there, as I've no idea in advance whether or not it will). Anyway - of course, if I did ever have the ability not to suppress myself and just to talk naturally as everyone else appears to be doing, I'm sure I'd be the one to get the objection raised against me - even if just a "don't swear" and not anything like a formal complaint being made about me - doubtless because my tone would be completely out. Not to mention (:Doops, now doing so) timing and things like that.

Besides, I think on the odd occasion, it's because I don't, that if rarely I have been pushed off the edge so far that I have, it's then out of character and noticed even more. I wish I could just swear naturally and constantly without being noticed. I suspect it's just me that notices and hears everything anyway!

I think most people, again, simply get on with life and just 'know' intuitively when they can/can't etc. Which is easy as they can see everyone's body language and thus know! I can't and, it's not actually "frustrating", as it doesn't really cause much problem, I think about it - and other things - from time to time, far more than people generally do but really they, and me, just get on with life without worrying about trying to figure things out.

Sometimes you have to reach the conclusion there is nothing to figure out and it's best just drawing a line under your thought, and where the train of it has ended up, and moving on just not really worrying or considering matters (as all other people seem very able to do). It's not 'frustrating' - more another support of my own argument that society is inconsistent and unclear:p:rotfl::rotfl:. Just makes me right and shows my argument is TRUE!:D

And as for explaining the meaning of the word "context" to an Aspie...:D:D:rotfl:

Not wanting to prolong discussion on a topic that's not on money-saving. But suffice it to say, that Asperger's syndrome can be noted by a prosody for formal language. In my case, it's because I took literally, in some respects, the injunction 'not to swear' that I never 'learned' that really it's part and parcel of a workplace etc. And because of my own suppression, of myself, I can't physically bring myself to talk in an informal way (i.e. with swearing) in conversation. It's not the way I would wish - I'd like to be like 'everyone else' in that respect and fit in there*. I'm not sure whether that's why other "Aspies" would (I've not met any other btw@) tend to talk using formal words as well.

    * (Much as I love deliberately and provocatively not fitting in sometimes now! As an adult, in which eccentricity can be a little cool often as well.)

@ At least not self-aware ones - I have my suspicions that one or two other people (and they're not my family) that I deal with might have the condition, more than likely unbeknown to them.

I will bow out of the conversation, as you say it is money saving, but did enjoy it x. But I throughly understand the latter comment. DS2 is ASD, it is amazing to see him developing coping mechanisms. But I wish that he did not have to!
