i like this thread. I used to love freecycle but the members of my group have become so greedy. anytime I offer something I'm shocked at the lack of manners - despite me saying in my posts "a please and a thankyou will go a long way in helping me to choose you, will wait 24 hours before deciding in order to give everyone a fair chance" I get so many emails within 5 minutes which say only "i'll take this now. what is your address".
Ditto. I got a reply from a woman saying "I'll have it. Drop it off at my address." followed by her address - no please or thanks or could you or even her flaming name!0 -
I offered an MP3 player today and was surprised by the volume of replies (I know I know, should have thought or at least read this thread
) I re-offered it with a little note saying that there were so many I couldn't pick so in order to be fair could everyone who was still interested email me again saying why they thought they should get it. The admin found this unacceptable and refused to post which is fair enough, it's their group and their rules but they wrote an incredibly snotty and aggressive paragraph to me saying that they "simply couldn't condone my actions" and how I had no right to do this etc. A simple "I'm afraid I can't post it because of XYZ, I know it can be hard to choose but we ask our members to pick by ABC" would have been fine. What is it with freecycle and the internet that makes people act like this? Honestly.
