WANTED-BABY ITEMS
hello I have got most of the baby things I need for my arrival next
month. But I still need baby monitors, travel cot, baby carrier,
bedding for a cot, steriliser, changing unit or cot top changer etc,
aswell as a few more things.
If anyone has any of these spare or that they don't need any more,
please email me.
how much baby stuff does she already have if she got most ot it and still has a huge shopping list. she never heard of mothercare.

not much by the sounds of it. and they don't "need" a travel cot, baby carrier, nor monitors plural, or a changing unit. mine coped with baby grows, terry nappies, breast feeding and a crib. oh and one baby monitor. never did them any harm.
edited to add, did have an ancient pram too. lol.0 -

I wondered the same thing after reading that one!
I didn't need baby monitors (just listened out for my babies crying and they soon let you know in most cases when they are hungry, bored, tired, sore when teething etc etc etc.
Steriliser - erm washed my boobs when having a shower / bath does that count? Or she could boil the bottles for 5 mins in an ordinary pot on the cooker (which she has not requested). Does the same job as those fancy sterilisers but without the chemicals which is surely a good thing?
Changing unit / cot top changer - what about the good old fashioned towel on the floor / on your knee job? That's what I did and my kids nor my back are any the worse for it. She could even lie the baby on her bed / couch to change it surely?
Travel cot - could she not get folks to come to her when the baby is still small or use a carry cot if she must take the baby anywhere? Prams now all seem to have gone back to the carrycot type rather than buggy's which I think are better for the babies back anyway.
Baby carrier - have to admit I loved mine and used it for all 3 of my sons and it was a godsend when they were grumpy and especially as I had my kids close together. One in the baby carrier, one in the buggy / pram and one underneath the buggy / pram if he got tired walking. Ah the memories of the old lady on the bus asking if I'd ever heard of contraception?
Cot bedding - you don't need this right away and a good old fluffy towel will do for sheet's if your really stuck and pillow cases for moses basket / crib sheets. Much cheaper and can be used for years after for their "normal purpose". I don't know anyone who has put a newborn right into a cot do you guys? This will give her time to shop (or send her a reply with the nurseryandtoys.co.uk link to sale items and see if she appreciates that?;))
I bought a continental cot quilt (zorbit) and 4 duvet covers and it's 17 years old this year and still looks like new. It's been passed around quite a few babies over the years and I love the fact one day I'll be able to use it for my grandchildren. (Kids if you're reading this it is NOT A REQUEST AS OF YET!!!)
Maybe her next wanted will include - toys, baby gym, nappies, smellies, nappy cream, clothes (although we quite often get clothes on ours offered), a baby bath (she missed that one, but a basin will do and oh I still have my baby bath too, sad I know.)
