Go on, you know you want to!
lol - it's a fridge freezer. It's lovely! Only a couple of years old and absolutely perfect in everyway! As I know that not many people will consider a fridge freezer a life changing appliance I shall explain as best I can:
As I have a space for a fridge freezer, but had separate appliances, the old fridge I had was balanced on the removable bit of worksurface in the space for a fridge freezer iyswim. As I can now remove that piece of worksurface, I can also remove the end panels that were supporting it.
As I can remove those end panels, I can move my kitchen drawers which are at the other end of the worksurface on the other side of the kitchen next to the washing machine and use the end piece to support the worksurface where the drawers used to be and replace the cupboard next to the fridge freezer with the drawers.
As I now have a space next to my washing machine (whilst retaining my very useful kitchen drawers!), I can remove my very old but functioning dishwasher from my shed and plumb it in next to the washing machine in the space where the drawers used to be.
It's therefore made the following changes to my life:
I can put up the paste table in my shed and either a) put the containers of veg I have in the garden there during the more torrential bouts of rain we are likely to have again, thereby possibly saving some of my crops or b) grow extra crops as I now have space in the shed to keep them during the aforementioned rain and I have space in there to put seed trays so that the dog cannot get them and dig them all up like she has so many times this year.
I have roughly an hour extra a day that I am not spending washing up!
Eventually I shall be able to put large shelves in the shed for the aforementioned crops and save for a large chest freezer to go in there. This will save me a small fortune in money as I will be able to shop monthly (saving a minimum of £3.99 delivery charge for my groceries each week as I live in the sticks and don't drive), I will be able to cook double or triple quantities of things and freeze leftovers saving money on my electricity bill. As I will be bulk cooking I will be able to buy bigger, and therefore better value, packs of things, which are cheaper in the end. I will also be able to stock up on things when they are on offer thereby saving more money.
So a fridge freezer has changed my life and saved me a fortune!
I know that all sounds a bit sad, but I'm absolutely made up with these changes and I love my new FF!
Edit: My old fridge and freezer are being collected by another freecycler tomorrow as his fridge blew up and he needs one.
Edit #2: and the freezer part of the ff is much bigger than the one I had so I can already store more stuff."A cat can have kittens in the oven, but that don't make them biscuits." - Mary Cooper
