Nexus Buyer Beware!
Options
I know this is not strictly a mobile phone but it is being offered by Three so I thought I would stick the warning in this bit ( apologies if I have the wrong place - Newbie!)
I just wanted to warn any potential Tablet Contract customers that the Three offer for the Nexus 7 tablet is misleading/unclear on their website.
Although their blog from September states that they are going to be selling the new 2013 Nexus unfortunately when you order it as I did on Wednesday what you receive is the already superseded 2012 model.
Considering their basic package inc 5mb data is £19.99 per month on a 24 month contract that means you would be paying £480 for a model that was already out of date when you started ( I appreciate some of that cost is for the data plan)
The only way you would know that it is the 2012 model is if you were incredibly familiar with the specifications of both and you spotted deep in the description that the processor was a 1.3 rather than 1.5 ghz.
I have cancelled it and am awaiting Three to send me packaging to return it. I have sent a complaint email to them asking them to be clearer on their website but I am not holding my breath!
In other news Tesco are selling the latest one with a very reasonable offer of £20 off at the moment so with that and my Tesco vouchers I just purchased it this morning for £204 ( and used my clubcard too!). I will tether it to my phones built in Wifi hot spot and use my unlimited data plan (also with Three) so I don't have to pay for data twice. Turned out to be a win win in the end thankfully!
I consider myself reasonably tech savvy and I didn't catch this before it arrived so I hope people don't mind me putting the word of caution out there just in case!
Thanks
Roz

The 2013 model is more easily distinguished because it has a camera both on the back and front whereas the older 2012 version has only one camera0

Good Tip. The description on the 3 website just states the camera megapixel resolution not the no of cameras . I should have known better as I had read up about the 2013 one - and would have picked up a clue from that and the pic.....hindsight is a wonderful thing
I just wish they were transparent and state its the 2012 Nexus 7 - although it was odd that Google didn't make a clearer model or version differentiation between the 2012 and 20130 -
Yep, the old one was only known as Nexus 7 so when the new one came it they called it Nexus 7 2013 - meaning you should refer to a 2012 one and a 2013 one. If somewhere advertises 'Nexus 7' assume it's the old one unless you can see in the specs (rear camera, faster processor) that it's the new one.0
