Cancel O2 contract early due to calls to Jersey, Guernsey and Isle of Man will be removed from your inclusive minutes


Got a text few days ago that

From the 4th December 2013, we will be removing some numbers ranges from your inclusive minutes as the costs to these ranges are much higher than standard mobile or landline.

if you have ever called this number or you plan to call them you can cancel early without penalty.

You can always say that you took the contract on understanding that they are included and now friends/family moving to one of these isles so it will be of material disadvantage to you and request to cancel early.

i haven't tried it as out of my contract anyway.

Use of the search function would have saved you the trouble.

On top of this you have included no real support to actually get people, who will actually be far worse off because of the change, out of their minimum terms.

O2 T&Cs from March 2012 onwards :-

1. Inclusive minutes on Pay Monthly tariffs can be used for calls made in the UK from your SIM Card to:
2. UK landlines (starting 01, 02 or 03); and
3. numbers allocated to UK mobile network operators that provide mobile services with substantial national coverage (this currently includes the five major operators O2, Orange or T-Mobile (together Everything Everywhere), Vodafone and 3, and providers like Virgin Mobile and Tesco Mobile that use major operators’ networks to provide their services), all provided that we may exclude from your inclusive minutes allowance calls made to any number ranges which we reasonably believe are being used for call forwarding services, onward calling services or numbers that pay a revenue share. Calls to some telephone helplines are also free of charge and don’t use up minutes from your inclusive allowance. 1. Inclusive minutes can't be used for calls made to:
2. non-geographic numbers (starting 08, 05);

• non-standard or "special" 07 numbers (all those 07 numbers that are not specifically included in your inclusive minutes, including 07 numbers allocated to network operators in Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man); or
• premium rate and directory enquiries numbers where special charges apply.
• any chargeable messages you receive.
