Tmobile contract over - sim only or PAYG?

Options
My contract has just expired and I'm resisting the urge to upgrade. Have a perfectly functional s3 which I hate but will do, I want to cut my bills down and this is clearly the time to do it.

I use a couple hundred minutes a month, a couple hundred texts and a GB or two of data. Historically that has all been higher - ideally I'd like 500min and 1000 texts just in case. I'd like to be able to easily access my remaining minutes/etc too to keep an eye on it, and my credit rating is lousy so not sure if I'd get a sim only else where. I've had a quick look - just wondering if there is any obvious deals or pointers I'm missing.

I tend to use my mobile on impulse, so would prefer the 08/03 numbers to not be ridiculously high, although I don't use any often enough for it to be a massive deal. May also need to phone the UK from Germany for a couple days, and the US from the UK for a couple weeks, so an easy opt in/out/cheap international option would also help.

Thanks if anyone has read this far! I'll appreciate any advice :)

  • I'm having a similar dilemma myself. Have you considered gif gaf? They do good deals if you buy one of their 'goody bags' so its kind of like the vest of both with Payg/contract. My mum goes for their £5 a month option which is the cheapest, you get 300 text 20mb data and 60 minutes, and if anyone from another network phones you, you get an extra minute for every minute their on the phone so it's a pretty good deal if you don't mind not much data and people phone you as much as you phone others. I think you get free calls and texts to other gif gaf users too.

I was going to go with gif gaf but I have an iPhone and I really like the personal hotspot feature and it doesn't work on gifgaf as they are not a "iPhone network" so I'm considering a sim only deal from 3.

Virgin mobile also have some pretty good deals too
  • Also, forgot to mention I think gif gaf have decent rates when calling abroad and if you do sign up try and find out if any of your friends or family use it and get them to get you a SIM card, that way you both get £5 free credit
