most success I have had is always trying to stay at least 5-6 days ahead. when I've tried just doing the ones ending the same day or next day, I've hardly won anything. if you're short of time just forget about the ones ending today or tomorrow and start from a few days in the future and try and keep up with thoseLuck affects everything; let your hook always be cast; in the stream where you least expect it, there will be a fish0

Hi , out of interest what's the most logical ?
Don't know about most logical but some of the potential problems of end date comping which there is little or no time to recover from are
Comp closes early
Comp website has problems (even worse if it's a weekend)
MSE forum goes down
Your broadband and or computer/laptop etc go down
Real life events take out comping time
Also unless you use the subforums you will miss out on the enter early ones where you get included in draws from the day/week of entry up to the competition end date.
The only possible advantage to end dating that I can think of is that someone posted about poorly run twitter competitions being more likely to pick later entries.
By entering early the comps closing early are not a problem and there is more time to overcome all the other issues.
(Early entry would be after the post has been up a little while so if there are any problems they will have been noticed - self-promo/spam sites/wrong answer etc)0 -
Totally agree juleigh, the main ones are the ITV ones with the 7am finishes.
To all the people suggesting end date compers get ahead of themselves, enter x amount of days ahead etc, if we had more time we probably would not be end date compers
I've been totally up to date on the board twice, but mostly just don't have the time so it slips and slips and I do the bare minimum of things just ending as I haven't had time to get ahead of myself..
Every single request or fair comment about this always gets met with the 'well get x amount of days ahead then' :wall:0 -
I have to say I'm hopeless, I always have the intention of entering early and keeping ahead but, if I do get ahead I sort of see that as play time to start baking cakes and dancing around the kitchen listening to music! :j
I do completely agree with spholman77, however, when I entered lots of end of the month comps, half way through the month, I had three WEMs in two days after not winning anything for ages!0 -
I'm hopeless too lol especially whilst the schools are on hols , defo gonna try to get ahead0

I must admit, I am an end date and next day comper, mainly because I work full-time so I don't have the time during the day except when I am on days off.
For me, my days off are usually spent with friends and my hubby, so I don't get chance to spend the day catching up.
I notice that some of the comps that do end at a certain time during the day, such as the ITV ones, don't have the time they end in the title, so I have also missed a fair few as I generally comp in the evenings when I'm home from work.
I don't mind though, as this is the way I comp, and I'm not for telling everyone how to post/comp/etc. Many thanks for all comp posters, it is most appreciated :iloveyou:
Although, I'm off ill today and I'm up to the 10th so far, so getting ahead!Back to comping after a 3-year hiatus :j0 -
I'm an end date comper too and to me it's all about prioritising the comps i want to win the most.
At the weekend i search for ITV comps and enter them for the week ahead. I usually do an ITV search twice a week.
I used to do the same with ipad comps, or holiday comps to ensure i wouldn't miss out.0 -

If you follow the advice in the comping guide there would be no need to even discuss making up false end dates.WARNING: If you are entering comps on the day or even the day before they end you run the risk that perhaps the comp has closed a little early & your entry won't be counted. Another thing to bear in mind is that the Board Guides volunteer hours of their time to keep these boards clear & running smoothly so sometimes comps which are ending today or perhaps tomorrow (in rare cases) may be moved to Game Over a little early - this is a task which has to fit around their real lives & also when they have some spare 'online' time.
SUGGESTION: If you really want to only enter comps right when they are ending then I strongly suggest you get a couple of days ahead of yourself to avoid the above0
