    No ISP would ever call you up out of the blue to 'tweak your internet'. And certainly not BT.

    There was another thread on here started by Phoodles (I think) along similar lines.

    I think the current record for keeping these muppets on the line is an incredible 1 hour 45 minutes.

    Think I'll see if I can find the thread (it makes a good read if nothing else).

    ::edit::

    Found it. It's here:-

    Any posts are my opinion and only that. Please read at your own risk.

    It's a bit of a scam where they tell you it's throwing up issues. You let them remote on and the go to event viewer, show you all the errors and warnings that have occurred.... and then tell you that it's the reason it's running slow. Once you pay them they just clear the logs.

    i am fully agreed on this, it was happened with my friend, i think people should know about these things as they are now common.

    Pretty much the above although I think they make the PC throw up standard issues that really don't matter, then run something to quickly fix those issues and charge you £250 for work you could do yourself to fix something that isn't really a problem.

    If you have a Mac, when someone phones up about your PC, you should not admit that you have a Mac and string them along for 30 minutes while you try to find Windows Explorer and Control Panel. ;)
