Hi All,
This may sound like a really stupid question but I want to buy Microsoft office but I dont understand the difference in these 2:
http://www.johnlewis.com/microsoft-office-365-home-premium-2013-5-pc%27s-annual-subscription/p231866676
http://www.johnlewis.com/microsoft-office-home-and-business-2013-1-pc/p231866673
The £79 one says for "a year" does that mean it goes off my pc after a year???

THe top (Office 365) is an annual subscription one whch can be used on up to 5PCs and has all the Office programs (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Onenote, Outlook, Publisher, Access). If you don't renew, you will be able to view your documents but not edit them. Office 365 has other things such as extra Skydrive space, Skype minutes and so forth.
The second is the permanent licence for Home & Business for 1PC (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Onenote, Outlook).
If you just have the one PC to use, then the Home & Business is by far the best option. If you have several PCs, then the annual Office 365 sub can work out cheaper than buying 3 or 4 individual versions.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
Now 20% cooler0 -
365 is pretty much a virtual app, so it's not installed on your PC. For £80 you get access to it for a year (it's an annual subscription) on any PC, but the £219 one is the full package.0

Thankyou.
Im looking for the cheapest option tbh. I dont even mind if its the 2007 version. I mostly need it for the kids for school and my general day to day office type stuff. Someone gave me the last one (they had 3 user and let me use one). But a fault on my pc meant I have had to restore back to factory settings and no longer have it.
What would you recomend?0 -
free office or is it open office?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

No the proper one. When the kids are doing homework the only one compatible with school is Microsoft.0

Both Libre Office and OpenOffice are compatible with Microsoft. Anyone who tells you otherwise is a salesman.
They are both free and can open, edit and save Microsoft documents.1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?0 -

Or a teacher who hasn't explained things properly.
The school will use Microsoft Office, so the only file format that can be submitted will be those that are compatible with Office. ie LibreOffice as WTH said.0 -

Do you still have the original key that you used when you installed it?
If you have, Microsoft will send you the download to replace it free of charge.0
