Cashback claim from Royal Mail
Sorry for the funny title but I thought this thread was the best place to put it.
My problem - I sent my final 6 months cashback claim to TMO on 16/5/07 by Special Delivery to guaranteed to arrive by 21/05/07. This was well within the 28 days of my 12th month invoices (invoices dated 11th May). I tracked my item with Royal Mail and it said out for delivery so all good and dandy. I hadn't heard from TMO to confirm receipt of invoices, but they are very slow now. I rang to be told it takes upto 28 days for them to be logged on the system. I emailed last week to be told that they have not been logged yet but they are only just getting around to doing them.
I tracked my item once again on Royal Mail and the message is the same - item left the delivery office this morning:eek: . I rang Royal mail last friday and the CS lady told me it looks like it's been lost but she will find out and get back to me sometime today.
My question is if RM have not delivered in time how do I claim from them? Is it consequential loss or just loss. The cashbacks (there are 2 of them) are worth £360.

If you had conseqential loss, then you should be ok to claim for the loss etc...
If however you didnt use conseqential then royal mail will only pay for the value of the paper inside!! ie next to nothing.
Remember standard special delivery doesnt include conseqential loss.ummm...0 -
Isn't SD already have consequential loss???
I think it does and if so should be no problem.0 -
According to my local postmaster it does upto £500 for no extra fee and above this you can choose to pay for £1000 or £2500 cover.

Just had a call from Royal Mail. My letter was delivered and signed for on the 21st May. That means I get my cashback :T - it's just TMO which is slow.
I asked the lady about SD and sending documents etc. She said "mmh I'm not sure as we've changed it recently". She went away for a few minutes and came back and said "my colleague thinks you are covered but she isn't sure". Blooming helpful.

Royal Mail talk about 'compensation' for valuable items using special delivery then go on to quote a further payent required for consequential loss:
http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/content1?mediaId=22700554&catId=400026
If you send an item that could be costly if it is lost, damaged or delayed in transit – such as a contract or legal documents - then take advantage of our consequential loss cover of up to £10,000.
