TBH I don't know - phone clips are already very compressed and I cannot appreciate a difference. Youtube probably has an 'HD' option, so try that if high quality is needed.

VLC Media Player has a rotate option

You can download it at videolan.org
Run vlc and view your file (which will be sideways)
Click on Tools->Effects and Filters
Click on Video Effects
Click on Transform
Choose the rotation you want - 90 degrees or 180
Watch and enjoy

If, instead of clicking Transform, you click Geometry, you can rotate the image 1 degree at a time if you need this. Zooming and trimming (cropping) are also possible.

It's also possible to save the screen output of vlc to a file. This takes as long as the video clip, so it's not great for a long movie, but it's easy for short clips.
Click right on the display, and choose View->Advanced Controls
A record button appears. Push this once to start recording, and once to stop. So you can also trim the start and end of your video this way.
The output is in the same file format as the original video, and is in your My videos folder.
