Glow Worm Ultracom 30cxi question...

We have a Glow Worm Ultracon 30cxi Combi Boiler that was fitted 3 years ago, we have just moved it from the far end of the gable end of our property to close to its usage barhroom/kitchen.

We plan to install a walk in shower within 1m of the boiler itself, my question is two-fold..

a) what size of shower spray can I realistically use with this boiler considering that I would like to get one closest to the 'deluge' model as I could.

b) I notice that the Ultracom 30cxi has been replaced by the Ultracom2 30cxi what have Glow Worm changed.

regards

  • i doubt you will get your "deluge" shower that you are hoping for, manu's change boilers all the time for various reasons I'm not sure why you need to know what has changed unless you are thinking of getting a new boiler, why didn't you ask the RGI that moved your boiler your questions, he was on site & the best person to answer them
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.

I suspect you will be disappointed by the shower's performance.

I did ask him but he said that he could not answer as he was not very sure that is why I ask the Forum.

Ok thanks'... What kind of system would I need to install in my Bungalow to achieve a shower that would operate a 'deluge' shower head?

  • Unvented cylinder running off the your combi with suitable shower mixer/head e.g. Mira. Find a RGI who has the appropriate experience and a G3 ticket.

Shower performance will be determined by the flow rate and pressure available. If your RGI can't check that and give you any guarantee of performance, then time to employ someone else.
But it sounds like he's trying to let you down gently.

  • Bertieuk: have you tried the bucket test to determine your DHW flow rate?

Thank you both for your valued input and ASAP I will carry out a DHW Test and report the findings, then we can progress from there.

The DHW test revealed just over 8L per minute of hot water which would seem a rather low amount of water.

Serious underperformance of a 30 kW Ultrcom combi. Should be 12.3 l/min. optimum. How is your water pressure?
