Thanks to everyone for your comments.
I have spent a while going through the dealers recommended on the MSE site, plus some others I had found in Google. I haven't gone into any great detail, I have gone into the various sites, put in the car I want, and seen what prices they are offering - if they want me to e-mail them I haven't bothered. If the site is clumsy to use, wouldn't give me a price (5) or doesn't appear to work (as one didn't) I moved on.
Car: Ford C Max Titanium, 2.0 TDCI DPF. RRP £19028. New or Pre-reg.
Results:
1. UKCar Broker £14236
2. NewCar4Me £14372
3. Broadspeed £14591
4. MotorProvider £14781 (Old model- Ghia)
5. BuyACar £15534
6. Brokers4Cars £16153
7. DealDrivers £17074
8. Jamjar £17362
Now, before I get lots of responses from 'FlogMeABangerCheap.com' saying that they are actually cheaper than the price I have quoted above - I went to these websites rather as I would a shop or any other retailer. I went in the door, looked at their stock and looked for prices. If I didn't like the stock or couldn't get a price from anyone - I left. Would you buy petrol at a garage that didn't display it's prices ? These websites are meant to encourage people to come into the shop and talk turkey, I must say that some of them don't do this very well. At least the ones I have listed above had a working site with prices.0 -
Now go back and ask all of those sites how many months you'll have to wait for the logbook to arrive to enable you to put it in your name, and when can they actually supply the car at that price?..and will your insurer cover you whilst you have no logbook showing you as the registered owner and keeper?
That's the results list that tells the real story!
This is why ytrying to compare online prices is so hard, you can't clearly identify conditions of sale, ownership, delivery, and safety of transaction (nor whome your contract to purcahse is with...the dealer or the broker...and why 'What Car's article last month hit home so hard (July issue) about the reality of some of these deals.
There's no new-shape diesel C Max stock and orders are well into September...until next weekend there's no 'real' money off as there's no vehicles available for handover but that may change from 2nd July when Ford are due to release their quarter 3 pricelists and dealer bonuses.“Official Company Representative

That is exactly the point I was making, when you go to a website you have to get the right feeling before you go any further, be it e-mail, 'phone or whatever. I certainly would not place an order just off the strength of anyone's website.
I was aware of supply problems with the C Max. I'm glad to see you do have a geographic 'phone number - unlike some !0 -
