  • The laptop is not what i thought it would be, and furthermore im very dissapointed with the company, so in all honesty i would like a clean break and full refund, thats what i am aiming for.

What did you think it would be?
  • well for some reason its operating incredibly slow, esp for a new laptop, the spacebar is not great iether, as i have to tap down firmly, the mouse pad is very very sensitive.

Its the correct specification, but like i say the battery is missing, so i should still be able to get a refund.

If they send you a battery then they have fulfilled what is required.

If you are still within 7 days then you can use DSR otherwise you'll then have to argue under SOGA.

    Now were getting somewhere...

Send it back under the distance selling regulations. Much easier.
Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.
  • thats what i stated in my email, just waiting for them to collect it

I wouldn't go down the DSR route at all, there must be something dodgy with this laptop as they will always ship with the battery.

Was the packaging perfectly sealed? Maybe someone had it before you.

What "must be" dodgy about it?
Most laptops are supplied with the battery wrapped seperately from the computer itself. The battery is one of the bits that goes into the box, along with instructions, cables and packaging. The battery is not fitted into the device before the user gets it. It's entirely possible that the battery was accidentally left out of the box, or that the box was opened to remove the battery to put in another one.
Or, there's a conspiracy where Very are opening every laptop, taking the batteries out of the boxes then selling the batteries seperately while hoping the new owners don't know about DSR and are stupid enough to go out and buy their own battery.

That's the whole point of DSR, if you're not happy, you reject. What route would you suggest they go dowm?
    1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
    2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
    3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?

I bought a laptop from Lidl, about 7 years ago now. I went out for the remainder of the day and when I got home and tried to set it up, the battery was missing.

I went back the next day and sure enough they came out with a white box, with the battery, the charging cable and other bits and pieces. They apologised and said, this box, doesn't come inside the laptop box and you should have been given it with the laptop.

As for the OP problem, I would expect Very to send out the battery and or accept it back, under DSR, without any issue.

I have a Very account and never had an issue with them, ordered, delivered next day, without fail and products worked. Decent BNPL and the price of some items, are comparable and they do occasionally appear on hotukdeals for instance.

So like with many threads here, one persons experience doesn't mean that everybody should avoid using them, as some have suggested. I would imagine they have many more satisfied customers, then non satisfied ones.

Oh and no I don't work for Very, or in that industry at all.

I'm not suggesting that Very take the batteries out of the box, but I am concerned that the laptop has been returned by another customer.

I suggest that they simply reject it because it has missing components, this way Very are responsible for its collection.
