That's because they want you to subscribe to their channels full time. But it is a cheap way of watching a specific event if that's all you want to watch.
As for being anything cheaper - I pay about £8 a month for all Sky Sports channels as part of my current half price deal with Sky. Not sure if it still works but if you have an iphone or ipad you can get Sky Sports App for £4.99 per month.
Of course, you can't watch that on your TV (unless someone else knows how to fudge it)0
