This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

    Morning all

Off to work in a few mins , just got time to demolish my boiled eggs :D

Managed to get some cheap fabric (roll end). To make a door curtain, I've lined it with an old fleece blanket so hopefully that will help to keep the cold out

Not sure what's for tea , but I need to go to t3sco tonight to pick up an order so may have a look round to see if I fancy anything

Have a god day everyone xx

    Morning all,

I had another wobble last night.:( My ankle was hurting, and I was just fed up with everything. Having to do it all in a wheelchair at the moment doesn't help either. A close friend rang me when I was really upset and she came down and cheered me up.:T Thank goodness for great friends.

Builders coming this morning to finish the breakfast room. I've only been waiting 2 years, but with everything that has gone on OH hasn't been able to finish it. :j

Not eating a lot at the moment, have lost more weight. Don't know how much yet though, because I can't weigh myself:rotfl:

Really hope this cast will be off next Monday.

    Morning all,

Cold here this morning but no rain yet will put a wash on after this. Need to drop dd at the station this morning for uni.

Managed to get the other bag of apples prepared yesterday so I have loads in my freezer for use throughout the winter.

Today I must give the bathroom a good clean and run the hoover over upstairs, I might also do an internet shop for next week as I am working long hours next week and wont feel like it when I get home.

Dinner tonight will be some kind of pasta thing with ham kind of a carbonara.

Topsy nice to see you x

    Have good days all xx

    Morning :hello:

Apparantly it's OK to rush in and dump dirty mugs, flasks and travel mugs in the sink before rushing back out for the evening. No doubt the fairy-cleaner-of-the-dried-on-dregs-of-tea-and-coffee will merrily scrub it for you all, and they will be sparkly-clean and ready for you to use when you wake up this morning. Just as well, because I haven't done it and won't. I don't like to leave too much work for the fairy, so I've just washed my own bowl and mug

Oh and thank you to the two trus who forgot to buy milk on their way home  I've had my cornflakes, but I hope none of you want cereal for breakfast because there's not enough milk left now

I'm the only one in the house without a job, so I'm happy to be the bin-putter-outer, animal cleaner, she who sews buttons back on, etc. and general housework person. Don't mistake that for Personal Maid.

I've chopped and frozen the leeks, the beetroot was ropey though so I've put it in the compost. There's not much waste – there were only four :D

Today I'm going to whizz around downstairs with a duster and hang some washing out. Then I'm going to make myself useful - I'm going to the military museum with my little bag of poppies. I'll take hooks, scissors and a ball of green yarn, they might want long chains made. TBH this has become really selfish, it's more about the feeling of halo-shining goodness (lol!) for me, than actually helping out with something good. If that makes sense. I need some feel-good stuff, and chocolate isn't working :D

    Morning everyone

    Anyone heard from halight?

Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x

Dull, dark, dreich and damp here this morning.

DH up and off to work stupid early.

Dinner last night was a disjointed one as DH was late in from work, I cooked for the boys and myself a bit earlier than normal, they had sausages, egg, beans and chips. I had sausages, egg, beans and cleared up some LO new pots from the fridge. DH had the same as the boys when he got in. Tonight will be fish, chips and beans, salad etc - I'm being a bad mother allowing them to have chips again but there's stuff in the fridge/freezer that needs using up - I may be able to persuade them into jacket potatoes instead.

Work yesterday was busy yet again. Got to work reasonably early and got sorted. Colleague who I was assisting to find the missing money etc then came in, and we went through her figures and re-counted everything and found another £30 difference, so she finished up being £10 out instead of £50 and 1 of the other Managers came over to speak to a couple of the staff regarding a different matter, so she came and double checked all the figures/calculations etc and gave some support to my colleague. She told me that she'd spent a sleepless night worrying that she couldn't balance and that she hadn't eaten anything either - she certainly was in a panic etc because of it all on Monday night. I can see this sort of thing becoming more common as we're all being stretched to the absolute limit - I said when the last lot of cuts were introduced that I felt that it would turn into a case of survival of those that can just keep going and those that can't.

I'm only working today until lunchtime today, then I'm off until Monday 18 Nov - have shed loads of stuff to do though in that time. I would like to get the xmas shopping completely finished, make xmas cake and xmas puds aswell as do all the other chores, and deep clean as much of the house as possible. I also need to arrange the fresh meat hamper for xmas, I normally order this and pay monthly but haven't done that this year, so will visit butcher and see if I can just place the order and pay for it in 1 go. DH and myself are going away in that time too.

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning All

Hilstep - Big hugs to you, glad you have good friends and you always have us!
tru - I like your style.

Cold and damp here so washing will be dried inside (it will take an age as there's very little heating on). Just going to hoover round, a tea bag split and is all over the floor!

Work and more waiting to hear about house move today. Chicken something for tea, I've run the cupboards down so much I may have to buy something to go with it!

Hugs to all in need, take care. XX

    Morning,

Wet, wet, wet - that's the forecast for today :(

WM on and won't be hung out!

I'm making some more mustard pickle (picallili) this morning. Then it will be time for work.

Haven't thought about dinner tonight yet.
    Have a good day everyone.
