If you have 8 it'll turn up anyway soon enough in an update. Why put in any effort just to add a slight polish to a turd?
  • Do you like Windows 8? If so, you'll like 8.1 - it's Windows 8 with bells on. It fixes a few annoyances and tweaks some stuff. If Windows 8 scares you, then 8.1 won't do much to change it, cos it's still different to W7.

No I don't like Windows 8 but I have to live with it.

Now installed and what a pa-larva took ages counting up through several screens and several restarts and now I can't see much difference

It probably is worth it if you're already on Windows 8.0. As I understand it, now 8.1 has appeared, 8.0 will only now be supported for another two years or so, with the full support cycle transferring to 8.1.

Why not just put Classic Shell on it then, and you'll have back W7/Vista/XP-whatever you prefer?

Microsoft makes it difficult — but not impossible — to run Windows 8.1 without a Microsoft account.

The joys of the now legendary rubbish that is Windows 8.
By the look of it, the service pack is making it worse.

Ive just downloaded it for free with the help of microsoft as I could not dl it. Seems ok, not really noticed any difference yet.
