Noisy birds

I wont comment on keeping birds in captivity.
but, where I live the birds can be pretty noisy - and we cant do anything about that as they are wild.
I think your neighbour was just a bit worried that birds were 'trapped'. but, its been a good icebreaker so a visit to verify the birds are not 'disturbing' them may be a good thing, especially if you take a small 'welcome to the neighbourhood' gift.0 -

They are out of the cage for about four or five hours a day! Plus it's a HUGE cage which has space to fly.0 -

I've got room to walk around my house but that doesn't mean that I never feel the need to walk outside.
Birds aren't 'designed' for cages... that cage would need to be as big as a mansion with ceilings as high as the trees to give them the flight area they naturally crave.
There's a reason we put people in cells and only let them out for exercise... it's called a punishment... but those birds have done nothing wrong.
Apologies but I feel very strongly about caged birds.:hello:0 -
So I should set them free so they can die?
If I didn't buy them someone else would have done, and not look after them as well as I do.
They are very loving and very happy. And I don't feel guilty at all.0 -

If I could hear birds making noises and I suspected one might be trapped in a chimney I think I'd be fairly reassured if my neighbour invited me in and showed me he/she was responsibly keeping birds in a cage....0 -

They are only bred because people buy them... it perpetuates the cruel trade.
If people didn't take pleasure in keeping caged birds then there would be no market and thus no need to breed them.:hello:0 -
That's never going to happen though. I didn't plan on buying my birds.
On the day I completed on my house I went for lunch with my mum while the removal company were loading my house up.
I saw them at the garden centre and fell in love with them, I just couldn't leave them there so I bought the whole set up.
As I said someone else may have bought them and ignored them or kept them caged 24/7.
I didn't ask for them to be bred, I just happened to be there when they were.
I do understand your point, but its never going to change so better they are well kept by me than neglected by someone else.0
