I was not buying it on eBay
The listing on eBay was for supply & fit. I only wanted it supplied so would be a bit silly of me to pay the full amount. I phoned them to ask for a price for supplied only which they gave me and I agreed to as long as it could be ready before my deadline.0 -
So wait, the bank did a chargeback under the Visa scheme...
Who has taken the money out again? The bank, or the seller using your details.
As if it's the latter it's an unauthorised transaction so you chargeback again and get the bak to change your card. The former, you need to speak to the bank.
The whole post is superfluous and the title misleading, it doesn't get to the real point.0 -
So, how much time would it have taken them to re-assemble the engine? (I notice in the first post you referred to it as a "part" but then once you called it an engine, so I'm going to guess it was an engine.)
Would 2 man-days be enough time for it?1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?0 -

Please elaborate, I'm not really sure what is misleading.
The bank initially honoured the chargeback then reversed it in light of new evidence. I have asked the bank what this evidence is and from what I can see it seems to just be a photocopied invoice.
The "real point" is that I made a distance purchase. I then cancelled, in writing, within 7 days. To that end I am entitled to a 100% refund. The seller has refused to honour that. That, as far as I can tell, is a breach of the DSR. Am I wrong?0 -

What does their invoice say?
In terms of description of the product and their returns/refund policy.
While you might have seen the original advert on eBay, you can't refer to the eBay advert with regards to what you bought, because you made the purchase outside of eBay for something that wasn't being sold on eBay.1. Have you tried to Google the answer?

You might not be 100% right.
Hence my question above - how long does it take to re-assemble an engine?
Also, what does their invoice say?
Regardless, the DSR offers the same protection against both services and parts so it shouldn't make any difference. It was not a 'custom' piece of work.0 -
WHO took the money back out?
Did the bank reverse the chargeback, OR did the company retake the whole lot on a different authorisation?0 -
What does their invoice say?
In terms of description of the product and their returns/refund policy.
£300 for the part
£900 for time spent preparing it
£300 surcharge for exchange engine (this was never mentioned until monday 3rd june)
£300 vat
That totals £1800. After the initial conversation I believed I was due to pay £1500 including VAT. After they took £1800 they kept changing their mind about whether the extra £300 was vat or a surcharge, both of which had not been mentioned.
There were no terms and conditions on the invoice, not that I would know that at the time as I only received the invoice when my bank forwarded it to me today!0
