Have you got a link to the original competition and terms and conditions? If it does not mention it in original terms and conditions then you need to show them it didn't and tell them you wouldn't have entered if their t&c had been clearer. As it's a deposit it should be returned to you after your stay (providing you dont trash the place which I'm sure you wouldnt lol)

There's 12 of you going so ask everyone for £84 (which for a two night stay in luxury isn't too bad) and tell them they will get it refunded to them after the break

EDIT to add - please check with them it is a returnable deposit. If it's not then sorry i'd tell them it"s not a win if you have to pay

even if I did there wouldnt be that kinda cash on it after Christmas eh?

    Daniyella thanks tho :)

I am taking out 3 days insurance in case of damage tho its such a grand house ;)
  • I would be really wary of anything asking for a £1000 deposit in case it is a scam.
I gave a £40 deposit to a caravan park in the Summer & when I came to leave, they refused to give me my deposit back & started making things up as to why I couldn't have it. It was all lies & ridiculous, but it's made me very wary of staying anywhere asking for a deposit as they could withhold it on very flimsy grounds.

Or is there anyone going with you that could wack it on there credit card or even possibly take out a temporary overdraft just whilst your there, they'll just want some kind of back up incase you trash the joint which is understandable, good idea taking out the insurance though, its the same as you hiring a car they just want some kind if back up I'm 100% sure you will get it back otherwise it wont be a prize x

Has the request come from the place you are stayong or through tje competition provider. If it's direct from where you are staying then get in touch woth whoever run the competition and ask them about it.they might not even be aware you have been asked. A prize should have no cost to the winner
