This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good morning everyone
Raining hard and a broken down builder's van means no roof repairs for us this week
Congratulations to Miss Dumpling on passing her driving test :j
Gonzo - that cake looked absolutely scrummy!
Jools - I hope you are feeling better today.
Need to go and raid the freezer for something for dinner, it may be lucky dip time.

Good morning everyone
What a cold and wet morning here, poor hubby has just left for work bundled up in wet weather gear....oooh, there's something about a man in rubber trousers :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:. Just sat here debating with myself if I should jump on the bus and pop up to B&Q for some new christmas decorations. I will wait and see what the weather is like later on as I can't use my pass till 9.30 anyway.
Eldest DD is going out with her friend to celebrate with a steak and beer today. She is so happy and I am so proud of her. Thank you again for all your well wishes and congratulations :A.
The Hairy Dieters cassoulet was really lovely and there is a portion left for my lunch. I have weightwatchers tomorrow and it doesn't look promising :rotfl:. I've had the past 2 weeks off for various reasons but I'm looking forward to going back to my meeting and seeing everyone again. I'm trying to lose a stone before Christmas but I really have to knuckle down now and get to grips with it again. I'm sticking with the Hairy ones and making their sweet and sour chicken for tea. I've made this a few times before and it's delicious, much nicer that our local takeaway version.
Well, better chivvy the girls on to get ready for school. Hope everyone manages to have a great day despite the weather. Take care and as always gentle hugs for all who would like one.
Cheers m'dears x0 -
Dumpling - well done to your DD :j:j:j
Sistercas - enjoy your afternoon off xxx
Hester - hope your DD has caught up on sleep. I well remember how tiring it was to have four children ill one-after-the-other xx
I have to go over to my parents today for an appointment. It is getting very stressful with them especially as my health has taken a nose-dive. It looks like I will need a shunt in my head to reduce the pressure and my anaemia is deteriorating again. I just dont know where to turn - we have pressures on all sides and it is especially bad for hubby who has work to contend with too:(I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -

Morning everyone
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Dull, damp, dreich and very wet underfoot here this morning. Looks like wet weather is set in for the day.
DH up and off to work stupid early.
Dinner last night was pork chops, mash, veg and gravy. Decided not to put the big oven on just for the pork chops, so just did them in the grill machine, have to say I thought they were nicer, with the added bonus of not putting the oven on. Tonight we will be having sausages, egg, beans and chips, well at least the menfolk will be. I'll be having sausages, egg, beans and possibly jacket potato. DH has just phoned and said he'll be late as a late job has come in for tonight and he'll be doing it, so will get in from work and be able to have some peace and quiet for a while.
Work as expected was a complete manic Monday - it was busy from 9.30am and just didn't stop all day and just didn't even let us catch up right up until a couple of minutes to 4pm when we close to the public. Hoping today may not be so busy - but as usually happens people wait for a while get fed up/can't wait so leave and then come back the next day! So I'm thinking today may not be that much better! I'll be reasonably busy as I'm doing a different job that is always busy at this time of the month and whereas before they would allocate 2 members of staff, we now don't have the resources to do that, so you just get left to get on your own to get on with it! 1 of my colleagues couldn't make her figures balance when we finished last night and another member of staff has to double check the figures, I and another colleague were trying to assist her and bless her, she was getting in a flap as she couldn't balance. I checked 1 part of the figures and she has counted £10 too much but was £50 short elsewhere, so potentially we could find that she's £40 a drift somewhere else and then balance iyswim - so we finished doing the absolute necessary and I'm opening this morning, she said she will come in early and we'll go back through it again - with fresh eyes and hopefully see where the problem is - that's my hope anyway!
Keep safe and well x

Morning all,
Raining here so wont do any washing, managed to get three loads washed and almost dry yesterday.
Need to drop dd at work this morning, then home to go through upstairs, I managed to get one bag of apples prepped yesterday ( I made a crumble and 12 individual apple pies) so I have the other bag to do today, will freeze this lot.
Also need to do an online shop, dinner tonight will be chicken casserole, with a quorn one for dd, which is nice and easy, just shove it all in and leave it.
Dumpling well done to your dd xx
Jools hope you are feeling better xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning all,
Well done Miss Dumpling:j
Gonzo loved the cake:D
Hope the poorlies are feeling better today.
It's wet here as well, quite glad to have a day at home. It's lovely and quiet after the madness of last night.
I'm planning a lazy morning surfing. I'm hoping to get most of the Christmas presents ordered on line and catch up with TOWIE and Made in Chelsea:o shhh my guilty secret.
I'm going to try and make a gluten free recipe tonight, stuffed peppers, hope they will be ok.
My daughter will be away until Thursday and DGS at his dads until Friday.
My middle boy is busy planning his new business which he is hoping to start in January, it's nice to see him with a spring in his step.
I'm worrying about the youngest at the moment. As you know he is repeating his first year of a levels. I'm not convinced he is putting enough effort in, he is adamant he is. We will see. I don't want him to waste two years and come out with poor results. I'm just not sure the academic route is for him but we shall see.
There is always one of them to worry about, it's my own fault for having four
Anyway kettle on, have a good day xStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.

Morning all,
wet, wet and wet outside so I'm doing sewing jobs to keep busy and warm.
Dinner will be mince and pasta. I found the mince wedged at the back of the freezer in with the scones etc. There are a couple of lonely and unappetising ready meals that were bought last year when DH was in hospital. I didn't feel like eating them then, and don't now (but for different reasons) so I'm tempted to get rid of them:o:o
DH has a 24 hour heart monitor today/tomorrow, not sure what it will show up as he doesn't seem much worse but then, he can't do much without getting breathless. He hates going out in the wind as he can't move and breathe against it.
LW - probably, but I was miffed he didn't want to spent more time with me
Congrats to Miss Dumpling!
Stay warm everybody!I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0
