First make sure you are using white distilled vinegar, not brown malt vinegar, white wine vinegar, cider vinegar etc.
Dilute it 50/50 and use in a spray bottle then wipe down for multipurpose cleaning.
I have vinegared my bathroom in the morning and left the house shut up all day and you do notice a smell in the evening - so make sure you ventilate well.'Never keep up with Joneses. Drag them down to your level. It's cheaper.' Quentin Crisp0 -
I keep some vinegar in a shallow dish in our porch as an alternative to air freshners. Whenever I get comments on the smell of vinegar in there I point out that the alternative is smelly footwear (including trainers  ). I'm reliably informed that the vinegar smell hasn't disappeared, but personally I don't notice it anymore. And it certainly removes the smell of well used footwear!Use words that are soft and sweet in case you have to eat them.0

I have been using white vinegar for months now on various jobs round the house, however, although the smell soon went when i used it on windows, in the kitchen etc. I found the smell in the bathroom lingered for far too long. So i use bleach in a spray bottle in the bathroom. I prefer the waft of bleach than the horrible smell of vinegar anyday!!This is a system account and does not represent a real person. If the smell is really bad, just light an ordinary candle and allow it to burn for about 5 minutes, the smell will go, this also works for any strong cooking smells.

and thanks for the tip. Will it work with an ordinary incense oil burner (with no fancy scents) too?

I make my own cleaning product out of a mixture of vinegar, baking soda, water, and lemon juice that way you end up with a nice lemony smell and just keep it in a spray bottle under the sink. It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.0

Ok, this sounds good, so what proportions of each approx? Thanks :-)
The though of a 'chip shop house' doesn't tickle me ... I can image it would tempt me to go to the chippie too often as well!!0 -
yep, I just cleaned the scummy water marks in the shower off - started with a nice sensible 50/50 dilution and then got carried away and sloshed it on neat - it worked like a charm but now the flat stinks of vinegar - am trying to waft the smell away desperately before flat mate gets back (NOT an MSE convert despite my very best efforts! ) - hopefully the sparkly sparkly kitchen sink (bicarb of soda) will distract her from the smell - tum ti tumm ............ :cool:I've made my debts bite-size too depressing to look at all at once so am handling them one at a time - first up Graduate Loan £1720 paid off! only £280 to go!!!
Money to raise for tuition fees: £3000
