Realistically it's not a design flaw, the press is not full off these phones being returned. Proving it to be a manufacturing flaw if the phone is over 6 months old will also be difficult the onlus is on your to prove it.

Well there is something going on icon9.gif
Which smartphone has the most faults? According to insurance data the Samsung Galaxy S3 is most prone to breaking with Apple’s iPhone 3GS the most reliable. Read our latest smartphone reviews. That article looks useless. "The insurance company looked at monthly averages for the number of faults reported for each handset."
So there was no account of the number of each handset in use!

OK, thanks for all your comments. Its seems there is no emerging consensus on this issue other than smart phone technology comes at a price and we need to take greater care to avoid damage and costly repairs.

Been using my previous scratched screen Nokia which has been dropped umpteen times but continues to deliver. I bought Samsung because it was one of the top sellers - not cheap but how wrong you can be.

I only know one person with a Galaxy S3 and it is in for repair at the moment icon9.gif I have a tiny Xperia Ray, it must have hit the floor (concrete and wood) over 50 times and been submerged in water with the back off, it is still chugging along like a good un. I am due for a new phone (would keep the Ray but the limited internal storage is a real downer). I was looking at the S4 but these stories of cracked screens on the S3 have certainly put me off. I tend to carry my phone in trouser pocket and this seems to be a risk point for cracking (when sitting down)

Its seems to be the larger screens on modern mobiles .
Just as its easier to break any glass the larger it gets if you know what i mean .My old Nokia is a much more robust near block of wood compared to any smartphone .

Experienced the same issue with my S2. Left it overnight on charge, checked it in the morning and the internal screen was cracked. Contacted Samsung to no avail, gave up and bought the S4 when it was released. A shame really.

Check the Sales of Goods Act - if less than 6 months' old, its up to the retailer to confirm that the phone was fit for purpose - not the other way around.

Otherwise, kick up a fuss on twitter/youtube/other social media. I've seen someone on youtube mention that their battery overheated to cause a crack on their S2 and it was repaired after some public jousting.
