I have just got a super-hub to replace my old Virgin modem and Belkin router. After connecting yesterday it would not connect to the internet. I got on to virgin and a technician took over my computer and for 1 HOUR tried to sort it out, in the end he told me to attach my old Belkin router to the super-hub. OK it now works but surely I should not have to do this. Also it cost me to upgrade my broadband to get the super-hub. Advice on the next step I should take please.

Advice on the next step I should take please.
What step are you wanting to take?
Are you wanting to cancel your contract?
Are you wanting to sue Virgin?
Are you wanting to configure your network some other way?1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?0 -
most people use the superhub as just a modem anyways and use thier own router.
is there a reason you dont want to use your own router?0 -
I thought that the super-hub replaced the need for a router.0

I know quite a few people who have the super-hub only ,my router is an old one if this stops working or if I had not got one what would have happened.0

My grandson had problems like that, Virgin sent him a new superhub which arrived 2 days later.
Also when you get a new superhub you have to contact Virgin to get it connected, it says that in the instructions.
Did you ask them to replace the faulty superhub?Getting forgetful, if you think I've asked this before I probably have. :rotfl:0 -
No the technician did get it work with my old router and did not suggest a replacement.0

did he try to get it working without the router first, then couldn't, and just used the old ones, or did he just set it up using the old router straight away ?No the technician did get it work with my old router and did not suggest a replacement.
if the later, he may have just assumed thats what you wanted and disabled the router part of the super hub (modem only mode)0 -
He could not get it working just with the super-hub and after 1 hour of trying he decided to try with the old router and then got it working. After the time it took i think we where both getting fed up.0

I thought that the super-hub replaced the need for a router.
The super hub operates as a modem and a router, but it is generally acknowledged that the router part of it frequently has issues with signal strength, dropping connections, etc. So if you find it works ok on it's own then fine, otherwise a solution is to use it as a modem and connect an older/better router. A bit of a bodge but a way of getting a decent signal.0
