Oh Christ.. I read your OP and my heart jumped into my mouth! Thank goodness everyone is ok. Hope you have a drink at your elbow as well.
It's so easy to think 'What Ifs' but the 'ifs' didn't happen. Please, calm yourself and take care

Thanks - when she called my in total hysterics about the cats inside I could not make out what was she saying. Especially that one of the cats was literally just brought back from the vets. Being in London and her in Cumbria did not help of course.
When worked out "fire" I nearly got a heart attack as in July my friend lost a flat due to fire ...
They are staying with friends tonight and will see what happens tomorrow - when can he go back inside as the whole kitchen is fire damaged/flooded....
Thanks a lot everyone xxx0 -
At least everyone is safe and well - and landlords insurance should cover most things!0

Not sure - latest I heard is that it was a faulty w/m.
And all kitchen appliances belong (-ed - they gone with smoke now) to my daughter's b/f....
Will see what happens with that...
Cats are with another friend who says he can only keep them 1-2 nights max, nowhere else for the cats to go - I am 5 hours away and already have 6 so no way I can squeeze 2 more
My daughter is coming back home at the end of the week..0 -
I think it depends on the terms of the tenancy whether your DDs BFs belongings were covered under the landlords insurance...........BUT, if landlord was at fault, ie wiring not been checked etc, then BF could certainly claim against him through the small claims court. or if W/M then it depends on how old it was and was it a manufacturing fault. Fire investigators report crucial here.0

if the cats have to stay at a cattery the cost should be covered by the insurance.Cats don't have owners - they have staff!!

Those are not my cats - my cats are all insured. Those poor 2 cats are not insured I am afraid...
They were both going to go to a new home but now the ginger boy was very ill (crystals in urine) and the person who was going to adopt them both in December changed her mind, may take the girl only if she takes any at all. See my thread here:
