Sky HD and BT sport, but moving to Freesat

Hi I'm looking for some advice:
Currently have sky HD and BT Infinity broadband and phone line. My plan is to get a Freesat box and dump Sky. I would like to be able to view BT Sport on the TV (this is currently through the sky HD package). The TV is downstairs and the router (?) is upstairs - not sure why as there is also a phone point downstairs.
What is the best way to get BT Sport on the TV? Also, are there other (better) options? the current Sky package is fairly basic so is mainly covered by the Freesat channels.
Also considered BT TV but they offer fewer channels and want to move stuff around or put cable everywhere which I would like to avoid.

When you cancel Sky your expired viewing card will still allow you to view BT Sport and all the Free-To-Air channels.
A Freesat box will not allow BT, but you'll be able to record.
If It was me, I'd just continue to watch via the defunct Sky+HD.0 -
As Moneyineptitude says, you don't need an active Sky subscription to watch BT Sport. You only need an active viewing card.0

Alternatively, you can purchase a Freesat-From-Sky card; which is effectively the same thing-a card with no entitlement to Sky subscription channels.0 -
I've just cancelled my Sky subs - hoping for a deal as I can't afford full price - does the card and Sky box stay useable then? I seem to remember them saying something about not being able to access recordings? Would be good to clear up what I can see/use as I think I may have to go without Sky... Ta.0

As much as I dislike Murdoch I've negotiated £10 pcm for HD box and all the basic channels.
The Sky box I grudgingly admit has the best user interface of any system that I've used.
If you cancel your subs you will be locked out of your recordings and be unable to use live pause etc.
With long winter nights ahead a tenner seems good value compared to the pub!!0 -

If recording is so important to you, it's probably far more cost effective to purchase a Freesat PVR-otherwise you continue to pay Sky £120 a year!0 -

Since it costs £10 for a Sky+ recording subscription, it doesn't look like you've "negotiated" anything at all! The Free-To-Air channels are available on any box where the subscription is cancelled. The box is already your property from day one.Are you only receiving these channels or do you have more?

Alibi,Gold, all the news and documentary channels. Sky sports news, kids tv, the standard basic sky package normally priced at £20.50 I'm paying £10.25
Per month for the next year with the HD box. I'm happy with that tbh.0
