Knowing "Various other messages" would help, but there is a chance that the contents of a directory cannot be (prohibited from being) listed. Instead of trying to access all ftp files, try to download the file(s) you need by using the full path to a file, i.e. like the follows:
ftp://username:password@xxx.xxx.xxx.xx/directory/file1.zip
where you need to substitute "directory" with the path to the file, and substitute "file1.zip" with the file name itself. The directory bit could be redundant, as the file might be in the root directory of the ftp server (uncommon, but possible).0 -
It may not actually be a Passive Ftp. Might be worth trying it on the Active setting.
It sounds like something at the server end though. Everything sounds ok if you can connect and login. If they are running their ftp in Passive mode, they may not have the passive ports setup correctly. In passive mode the client connects to a randomly specified unprivileged port given by the server. Whereas in Active mode the server connects to the clients data port.
Try it in both Active and Passive mode though. If that doesn't work speak with the company and get their tech guys to check it."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0
