UKCPS Parking Fine - Leaving Site

I received a parking charge notice yesterday from UKCPS whilst parked at Centretainment in Sheffield. I parked there and went to watch the Hockey at Motorpoint Arena and then used Burgerking (based at Centretainment) afterwards. I got back to my car and have received a ticket for "Leaving Site"

I have read a few other threads that advise I ignore the notice, should I do this or do I need to appeal?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Mike

A bit of both as long as this is your car (not a hire/company car)!

You IGNORE a windscreen ticket but appeal when the keeper gets the first letter ('Notice to Keeper'). Then you win it at POPLA stage with our help.

So you now have plenty of time (at least a month) before the NTK arrives, to read up on other UKCPS threads about their stalling tactics & failings, and about POPLA.

Do not reply to any private message about this parking incident even if the person seems friendly. UKCPS read this forum and are NOT friendly!

Start by Googling these words which will find you LOADS of recent and relevant forum threads:

    'UKCPS address the factual issues'

which is a quote from one of their template replies to appeals. Read any Google search results from here or from pepipoo forum. LOADS of threads for you to learn from so you are ready to beat this.

Do not ignore UKPCS as they do sue people sometimes and as I said, are not nice. They deserve to be beaten at POPLA again, at their expense, with our help!
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • Thank you.....

I will be in touch again when the letter comes through :D

    Cheers

Read the sticky threads, but send something like this to get a popla code if they reject your appeal

    Dear UKPC,

As the registered keeper of (reg) I'm in receipt of your parking invoice xxxxxx dated xxxxxx. I wish to invoke your appeals process as all liability to you company is denied on the following

    1) this charge is not a genuine pre-estimate of loss
    2) your signage does not comply with the BPA Code of Practice
    3) you do not have the authority or permission to issue invoices at this location

If you do reject the challenge and insist upon taking the matter further I must inform you that I may claim my expenses from you. The expenses I may claim are not exhaustive but may include the cost of stamps, envelopes, travel expenses, legal fees, etc. By continuing to pursue me you agree to pay these costs when I prevail.

Alternatively please issue your cancellation within 35 days of this letter

    Faithfully

you do as stated in post 2 , reading about other similar threads, sending in your completed soft appeal you should have been working on in the meantime, getting a popla code from them and also working out your final draft of your popla appeal

its all listed in the NEWBIES thread by coupon-mad, the one you should have been reading since all this started, as listed in her signature

    good luck

Read the Newbies sticky thread first.

Then create a soft appeal and send it to UKCPS. Points you will want to raise are :

    1. You do not believe they have the landowners authority to issue the charge.
    2. The signage is sub-standard.

Make it brief and to the point - it's not worth putting too much effort in at this stage.

  • There's a lot in the stickys and I'm not sure of exactly what to write. If I send the letter that stroma has posted will that suffice. Thanks for your posts and advice

yes, is the correct answer ;)
  • Right, lets put this situation into context.

Valley Centertainment is an entertainment/food park opposite the Sheffield Motorpoint Arena.

As soon as you drive in, from all entrances it is clearly signposted that there is a time limit for stopping and must be visiting one of the places on site and not leave off site at anytime.

Whilst visiting the Arena for a hockey match you decided not to park in the Arena car park and pay the £5 charge and instead chose to park in the Centertainment car park. And when exiting the match by calling in for burger is your claim you were parked legitimately???

I am all for challenges when signage is not clear or the company involved is not playing by the rules. However you knew you were parking illegally and the signage is crystal clear all to save yourself £5 parking fee. Whenever there is an event on at the Arena the Centertainment security staff doubles to protect the spaces for the people who solely want to use its car park. Hence you were caught.

Regardless of the above, the loss is what ? And can you explain the criminal element of parking illegally? I am intrigued as to the reasons why it's illegal to park on this patch of private land
