Did you even have no claims to provide them?

Thanks for the replies, yeah I accept it was my mistake with accidentally giving the wrong address that gave them the excuse to cancel, but the fact that their new quote for my correct address was twice the price PLUS the cancelation fee leads me to believe they're more than happy for the cancelation to go ahead anyway. I believe they were more interested in cancelling the policy and collecting their fee rather than actually wanting to keep me as a customer.

And I still feel the original list of demands is a ploy to get people to cancel.

Oh well lesson learnt, I've gone with someone else for only £20 more than Flux's original price (and so far no list of silly demands from them!)
  • I think that Flux Direct are employing shark tactics.

They insisted on having copies of my tenancy agreement (amongst numerous other documents) for a property I rent out to prove that I am a landlord. This is a legal document with my tenants details on, so I had to decline and so cancel my policy, costing me £40 cancellation and £45 'admin'. All for 3 days worth of Insurance....

So they get nearly £90 of my money for providing 3 days insurance by asking for ridiculous information and causing me to cancel.

I will not touch this company ever again.

It's not obvious to me why it's ridiculous for a,provider of landlord's insurance to ask for a copy of your tenancy agreement, or why you felt you were unable to provide it. You might also be in for a shock if you ever have to make a claim from whoever insures you instead - they'll quite likely ask for it when you make the claim.

Yes, I know, old thread revived, but...

Not really - it's a bog-standard high performance Clio Sport.

    No it isn't modded

And that's why they'd have wanted the photos - because they've probably got a lot of experience of people wanting to insure high performance variants and lying about whether they've been modified or not.

The address "confusion" also explains the request for proof of address - they're trying to prevent people falsely claiming a low-risk address.

    But hold on one minute...

I have a sneaky suspicion that the request for documents did EXACTLY what it was intended to do.

It may well be they did a credit check and found your still registered as living at the insured address so want to confirm it's let out.
