OS Daily Monday 4th November 2013

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

  • Good morning everyone :)

Back to work and stupid o'clock get ups and postings.

Do not feel at all motivated to go to real job today but am very keen to go and spend a couple of hours at new job. I think I am going to set up a number of days to go calendar, ticking them off may make me feel better.

JackieO - thanks very much for the boiler advice, I think we need to look into this. Tried to get the heating to come on for one hour last night and the heating made a horrible noise and only worked upstairs. It sounds like the pump may have died :(

Sausages and cauliflower mash for dinner and I better get going.

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)

Another one who's back to work here today, lets see how I manage full time for weeks at a time. DW emptied and reloaded, WM emptied and washing's on the maiden.
I've had my porridge and a cuppa, hubby has a cuppa in bed, he's not back til tomorrow.
DD2 is worn out, her littles have been ill one after the other, hopefully they are on the mend now, I'm dropping some treats off this morning, milk, bread and pain chocolat.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Hester and all who are back to work and school - Good luck and take it steady xx
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Good Morning all, wet and dismal looking here in Kent. All but one of the grandsons are back to school this morning The youngest one has a teacher training day so will be off.Not sure yet what we will do but as the weather's nasty probably not very much .Maybe a snuggle up on the sofa in the warm with a movie and my knitting ,sounds like a good plan to me.
Hope everyone is bright-eyed and bushy-tailed and raring to get back to normal after half term :):)
Real Monday morning weather here at the moment ,maybe it will brighten up later
Have a good one whatever you are doing
    Cheers chums

Cold and frosty here and the sky is clear so we could be in for a lovely day. Woke up cold in the night - thank goodness for the electric blanket!

Work today and then chase up the electricity company when I get home. Hopefully I will hear more about the move today - fingers crossed please.

Switched the freezer off last night, having the last of the salmon fillets tonight, must clean it out too.

Have a good week, take care. XX

    Morning everyone

Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x

Clear sky, but damp underfoot with a nip in the air.

DH up and off to work stupid early.

Lunch yesterday was roast chicken, cauli/broc cheese, carrots, brussel sprouts, roasties, mash, yorkshires and gravy, chocolate cake for dessert. I did have a slice and remembered after I'd eaten it and felt bleurgh... why I don't generally bother as after a main course I really don't need anything else. Didn't eat anything else for the rest of the day! Tonight we will be having pork chops, mash, veg and gravy.

Got some of the jobs done yesterday and DH got the DIY job done. I put the washing in the machine and was going to turn it on after the DW had finished and promptly forgot so went to get it out this morning to put on line and, of course, it's not been washed, so have just turned it on, but it won't be finished before I need to leave for work.

Back to work for me today and fully expecting a manic Monday as it's near the first of the month - our busiest time. Have a week's leave next week so am counting down the days!

    Keep safe and well x

Brrrr it's cold, the heating has gone on this morning it was only 13 deg , too cold for me

Off to work , will need to scrape the car before I go

Need to get some ribbon and bits , I made dd1 a couple of pretty little hangers in flower and heart shapes for her to hang on her wall to match her quilt cover. The other girls she lives with at uni think they are lovely and are wanting some . I am quite happy to make a few for them

    Morning,

Looks like the rain may be stopping. Supposed to be walking this morning with my friend and then she is re doing my roots.

Back to work and school for me and DS2 today.

DD stayed Sat night and it was so lovely to spend the day with her yesterday and have a good old catch up. DH was good and made dinner, his latest fad; HM pasta and meatballs followed by apple pie.

Have a good day all :)

    Good morning everyone

Wow, where did the weekend go? In fact, where did the last week go? I can't believe we are in November already. The girls are getting ready for school after a week off. Do you think they are organized.....not a chance. Last minute bits of homework are being done and wails of "where's my tie" are floating downstairs.:). I'm not interfering, they are all old enough to get themselves sorted out. :D

I had a mad dash round earlier and all I need to do is put the hoover round before my eldest DD and grandson turn up. Please can I ask for good thoughts and prayers for my eldest at 1.30 as she has her driving test today and she's very nervous.

Tea tonight is cassoulet from the Hairy Dieters cookbook. It's a new recipe for me to try out on the family. I shall pop some baking potatoes in the oven at the same time. It should be ok, if not there is always beans on toast :rotfl:.

Well, I'm going to grab a quick shower before they turn up so I'll love you and leave you.
Take care and as always gentle hugs for all who would like one.
    Cheers m'dears x
